Biography
This was Corry Brokken's third participation for the Netherlands. She also participated in 1956 and 1957, winning the latter festival. After this year's participation Corry started into a very successful solo career. Her three biggest Dutch successes were Milord (1960), Mijn Ideaal (1963) and La Mamma (1964). Mijn Ideaal was banned from Dutch radio in 1963, as the contents of the song were far too progressive for the Dutch taste at the time. Not only in the Netherlands Corry was popular. Even more success she garnered in Germany. At the start of the 70's Corry quit the showbusiness for a career as a judge, only to return in 1976 as presenter to the Eurovision Song Contest in the Hague. Unlike Teddy Scholten (Netherlands 1959) however Corry's musical blood kept tickling. And so after she retired as a judge in the mid-90's she started recording new material again, resulting in two albums, one in 1995 and one in 1999. In 1997 Corry again appeared as spokeswoman of the Dutch jury.
