Biography
Rudi Carrell has had a long and very successful career. Starting already in the 50's he scored his first Dutch hit in 1960 with his Eurovision entry Wat Een Geluk. It would be 1976, before he would have his second hit in the Netherlands with Samen Een Straatje Om. By then he had already started a highly successful career in Germany, singing, acting and presenting TV shows. His best known films were 1971's Tante Trude Aus Buxtehude, Die Tollen Tanten Schlagen Zu and Rudi Benimm Dich. Even as a singer Rudi was far more successful in Germany than in the Netherlands, scoring hits with songs like Goethe War Gut. Starting his career as a presenter in the Netherlands with the TV quiz Aan De Lopende Band, he took the concept with him, when he left for Germany. Am Laufenden Band was his first TV show in Germany and many shows like a German version of Stars In Your Eyes would follow.
