Biography
Udo Jürgens (born Udo Jürgen Bockelmann 30/09/34 in Kärnten) started his career in the mid-50s, but nothing really happened until his first hit in 1963 - a cover version of Kiss Me Quick. It took however his first time in the Eurovision Song Contest to catapult him into the public eye.
The melody of the song so impressed the UK entrant Matt Monro, that he suggested Don Black write some English lyrics for the song. The resulting song, Walk Away, became a huge hit for Monro (it reached no. 4 in the UK singles chart that September) and spawned many cover versions over the years.
