Biography
Conductor Waldo de los Rios (born in Argentina) was a famous recording artist in his own right at the time. His biggest hit came just one week after this year's Eurovision Song Contest, when his rendition of the Mozart composition Mozart Symphony No. 40 In G Minor, K550, 1st Movement (Allegro Molto), recorded with the orchestra of Manuel de Falla, reached the no. 1 spot in the Dutch charts and scored a top 10 hit in several other European countries. No need to say that Waldo's no. 1 hit was produced by this year's composer Rafael Trabucchelli. Prior to this success Waldo already climbed the charts around Europe and in America, when he conducted Miguel Rios' 1970 hit A Song Of Joy, another classic written by Ludwig von Beethoven. Waldo de los Rios and the orchestra of Manuel de Falla were not quite able to follow up this huge success, although singles like Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Nabucco reached the lower regions of several European charts. Waldo de los Rios died 28/03/77.
