Biography
Lena Valaitis (born 07-09-'44 in Memel, Lithuania, real name Lena Wiedmann) left Lithuania with her parents, when the Russians took the area shortly after the war. Starting her singing career in 1971 with producer Jack White (also Jürgen Marcus's, David Hasselhof's and Engelbert Humperdinck's producer), she gained a lot of acclaim from the public for her 1973 hit So Wie Ein Regenbogen. Hits like Da Kommt José - Der Straßenmusikant and Ein Schöner Tag followed. She also played a part in the movie about Jack White's life, Heut' Hauen Wir Auf Die Pauke. The cracks in her working relationship with Jack White started to show and at the end of the 70s she was released from her contract. It didn't help her, when it came to hits. It was Johnny Blue that returned her into the spot lights for a short period. Lena Valaitis also competed in the German natioal final in 1976 and 1992.
