Biography

Luv Bug are from Newry which is in county Down in Ireland. The group comprises two girls and three boys. They have been playing together for nearly four years and have had four hits in the Irish charts. Their most recent release "On my own" is currently number 17 in the charts.

Majella Grant and Max Cunningham are two of the founder members of the group. Majella plays drums and sings and has converted her garage into a health and dance studio for the benefit of the group, where they keep fit, and choreograph their own dance routines.

Max is a mechanical engineer and was a teacher for a short time. Always interested in music, he studied classical guitar from an early age. Max is a skiing enthusiast.

Ricky Meyler sings and plays keyboards. He attended the London College of Music for two years, and was a classmate of Alison Moyet. He qualified as a piano tuner. Ricky is also a very talented artist, and has had a number of exhibitions. He likes dogs and is interested in the doberman breed particularly.

June Cunningham, lead vocals, is Max's sister. She was always interested in singing and has won medals and cups at various competitions. She designs her own stage clothes and co-ordinates the dance routines with Majella.

Hugh Cunningham also sings and plays bass guitar. Hugh is Max's younger brother and like him has been playing guitar from his youth: he joined his first band when he was fifteen years old. Hugh's hobby is rally cars and he hopes, one day, to drive in the circuit of Ireland rally.

Kevin Sheerin is from the Irish Midland town of Athlone and he is a professional musician. He has been playing lead and steel guitar with Ray Lynarn's band for the last fourteen years. He has been playing music since he was four years old. Kevin's hobby is racing greyhounds. This is his first composition for the Eurovision Song Contest.

No stranger to Eurovision, Noel Kelehan has conducted the Eurovision orchestra for Ireland's entry at a number of the contests. Noel wrote the opening film music for the Eurovision Song Contest when it was hosted by Ireland in Dublin in 1971 and 1981. Noel studied music privately and at Dublin's Municipal School of Music. A talented pianist, he started broadcasting at the age of 9 with various groups and was arranger for the first major musical series on RTÉ Television, "Showcase". Since then he has become a leading arranger of music for stage, radio and television. Noel is a staff conductor and arranger with Radio Telefis Éireann which is the national radio and television service. Noel also regularly conducts for radio and television in European engagements. As a composer most of his commissions have been for jazz guitar and chamber orchestra with Louis Stewart as soloist: three pieces for percussion and symphony and incidental music for television drama and entertainment.
