Eurovision Song Contest 1988
The song that Cyprus wanted to send to the contest didn't match the contest rules so Cyprus withdrew, leaving 21 countries to compete. This contest brought us Céline Dion and Lara Fabian, who both became world famous after their Eurovision participation. Céline Dion won the contest for Switzerland although she isn't Swiss at all. After the victory in the very first contest, this was the second win for Switzerland, beating the United Kingdom by a single point.
