Biography
Maywood consists of Alice May and Karen Wood. They are sisters and their real names are Alie and Doetje de Vries. The two sisters started out as the duo De Karina's, recording songs in Dutch. As De Karina's weren't successfull they adopted the name Maywood and recorded their first English single, Since I Met You. It was their 1979 single You Treated Me Wrong however that first hit the charts and from there they built a string of hits that lasted until 1993's You And I (Face To Face). Some of them were hits all around Europe and Asia like Late At Night, Rio and Maño. They also recorded full albums of original songs and dedicated two albums to popular thirties and sixties hits. In 1995 the two De Vries sisters went separate ways after a quarrel and since then Alice started an as yet unsuccessfull solo career.
