Biography
Magazin were formed in 1980 and were voted Group of the Year in Croatia in 1986, 1988 and 1994. During these years the group secured top places in the national charts. They are inspired by ethnic elements from various regions. Focus of the group tonight is female singer Danijela Martinovic. The group duets with Lidija Horvat, who is respected as the Croatian opera diva. She has already achieved success in the opera houses of Europe.
Tonci Huljic, born in Split in 1961, has studied both Law and Music. He has written numerous songs for top Croatian performers as well as for his group Magazin. In 1987, 1988 and 1994 he was voted Best Croatian Composer. He has written over 300 songs and since 1984 has composed a specific type of Opera. The first song of this style was Hit of the Year in 1994. This unique style can be heard in Nostalgija.
Vjekoslava Huljic has published a book of poems and writes for literary magazines as well as screenplays for children's programmes on Croatian Television. She has written hundreds of lyrics for the country's top performers. [Notes from the Official 1995 Programme by RTÉ]
