Biography
The Swiss song will be sung by Cathy Leander. She was born in 1963, and began her singing career in the church choir of her home town. In 1989, she moved to Geneva, and has sung both there and in Paris at jazz clubs on the left bank and in cabarets of the St-Germain-des-Pres quarter. She speaks English very well, and her repertoire includes just as many songs by Whitney Houston, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand as French songs by the likes of Edith Piaf and Nicole Croisille. In 1992, she was selected to represent France in the Europa Song Festival in Bordeaux. Her ambition is to make an album of previously unrecorded songs.
Régis Mounir has the double role of composer and songwriter. He was born in 1968, and started his musical studies at the age of eight: music theory, percussion, and singing in the choir of the local conservatory. At the age of 16, he was hired as a professional musician by the group KGB, and with them, toured Italy. Nevertheles, he continued to study music theory and piano in Geneva. In 1989, Mounir formed the group Alesia, for which he composes and writes songs. Besides playing the drums and keyboards, he is a background musician and is responsible for artistic production and musical arrangements of the group. From 1989 to 1994, he worked as a DJ for a local radio station in Geneva. Alesia has recorded one album, and Régis Mounir is now writing and composing for the next one.
