Biography

Singer Franklin Brown is 34, married, with two children while Maxine is 25, and still living at her parents' home. Her real name is Gonny Buurmeester. He is living in Rotterdam, she lives in Breda. Neither are professional singers, although Franklin already recorded several English songs prior to the Eurovision Song Contest. Franklin and Maxine met each other just a month ago for the first time, to form a couple, arranged by the record company. Franklin is a part-time policeman in Rotterdam, Maxine works at an insurance-company. You could easily call the duo, Mini and Maxi, because Franklin is 1.92m and Maxine is only 1.56 m.

As a guitarist Piet Souer (48) from Eindhoven has played with many well-known Dutch musicians and managed to store many prizes and 22 gold and platinum discs in his attic. He has played with stars such as George Brassens, whom he toured with in France in 1969. The same year he accompanied Lenny Kuhr on guitar when she won the ESC in Madrid with her song De Troubadour. But Piet Souer is also a composer, an arranger, a conductor and a producer, and now works in music studios in many parts of the world.

Peter van Asten was born in Amsterdam in 1951, where he became a local celebrity in his schooldays with the group The Black Jeans. By the time he was 20, he had conquered the rest of the country with the group Amsterdam. However he soon made attempts to have a solo career, under the name Peter Bewely, which is a name he still uses in his work as composer and producer. In collaboration with Richard De Bois, he wrote the Dutch entry for the ESC final in 1984. [Songwriter notes from the Official 1996 Programme by NRK]
