Biography
Gunvor Guggisberg has a role model in Céline Dion who successfully won the Eurovision Song Contest 10 years ago. Gunvor (23), who owes her unusual name to her Swedish-Italian origins, is the singer, writer and composer (with Egon Egemann) of this year's Swiss entry. A Swiss tap-dancing champion seven times over, Gunvor has won numerous awards in Switzerland ('Goldenes Mikrophon' first prizes) and she was the clear winner in the Swiss choice for the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest entry.
Egon Egemann has always sought his own unique ways of reaching his listeners' hearts. His current CD Gegen den Strom (Against the Current) has been favourably received by critics and public alike. Whether as a Conservatory student, a 'big band' musician or with the great successes he has enjoyed with his violin, quality has been his hallmark. Other artists enjoy working alongside him as lyric-writer or composer. And it is as co-composer, arranger and producer that Egon Egemann has contributed to this year's Swiss entry. Accompanying Gunvor for this year's show, this is the second time Egon can be seen as a performer on the Eurovision stage: he also performed 1990's Swiss entry Musik Klingt In Die Welt Hinaus.
