Biography
Chiara Siracusa first came to prominence during a festival of folk singing in 1994 when she was unanimously voted as the Best New Voice. Later she began appearing at local and foreign festivals and in musicals such as The Sound of Music and Jesus Christ Superstar. Last year she was invited by the National Tourism Organisation to feature in the promotion of a Malta Week in Istanbul, Turkey.
Jason Paul Cassar hails from a musical family which includes his grandfather, Paul Arnaud, who was a popular band leader. Jason plays a diverse range of instruments including the saxophone, clarinet and keyboards. Jason’s big break came in 1995 after he succeeded in setting up his own recording studio. Cassar’s original composition, Born to Love, represented Malta in the European Union’s Song Festival held in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Sunny Aquilina is a writer at ease in both the academic and popular writing camps. A member of the Academy for the Maltese Language, the Maltese Literary Society and the Maltese Poets Society, Aquilina has penned original spiritual hymns, oratories and cantatas and scored for soloists, choir and symphonic orchestras. A teacher by profession, Aquilina has worked with Chiara and young composer Jason Cassar in writing a number of popular songs. [Notes from the Official 1998 Programme by the BBC]
