Biography
Selma Björnsdóttir played Sandy in the Icelandic version of Grease which was popular in Reykjavik last summer. She also has starred in other musicals such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Cats. There was some doubt over the language in which the song would be performed but like many other countries this year, english was chosen.
This uptempo number reminiscent of the 60s and 70s but with a strong melody was accompanied by a fun preview video, featuring pantomime characters, outlandish costumes and slapstick. However the stage act, while lively and well performed, lacked this comic sparkle and sounded a little rushed and out-of-breath. Should have had a chance of being the biggest pop-hit from 1999 but didn't seem to be given the right promotion. My personal favourite.
