Biography
Voice comprises of Alexandros Panayi and Christina Argyri.
Alexandros Panayi was born in Nicosia. His parents are both music teachers. He studied piano, French horn, vocal performance and Music Theory.
He took part in a number of shows and music broadcasts. In 1985 he won first prize in a local new talent TV show as a performer and started his career as a songwriter, composer and performer.
He studied at the Berklee College Of Music in Boston with a Fulbright Scholarship. There he had the chance to work with artists such as Richard Marx, Bonnie Raitt, Manhattan Transfer, Gary Burton, Peter Erskine and Billy Joel with whom he toured the States in 1993.
He graduated with the Best Performer Award of that year (1993). He followed post-graduate studies at Boston Conservatory where he worked as a vocal performance instructor and choir conductor at the Project Search Department of the Conservatory.
He participated in a number of theatrical performances and Musicals as well as in Gilbert and Sullivan's Operettas. He started in the World Premiere of Leroy Jenkins's opera "Fresh Faust", a Boston Centre For The Art Production. In June 1994 he sang at the Acropolis Amphitheatre in Athens in the Ars Musica» show.
In May 1995 he represented Cyprus in the 40th Eurovision Song Contest In Dublin as songwriter, composer and performer with the song "Sti fotia" which came 9th.
He has been since then living and working in Athens. He has worked with many entertainers while in 1998-99 he had a leading part in the Greek version of the musical "Grease". He is currently the Director of the Musical Production in the Disney Greek Dubbing Department (Buena Vista International) and he has sung in a number of Disney animation movies such as "Tarzan".
Christina Argyri was born in Limassol, Cyprus and grew up in a musical family. She started having piano lessons at an early age with her father, the musician and pianist Stelios Argyris.
She took part in local competitions and TV broadcasts as a composer and performer.
In 1995 she was backing vocalist for Alexandros Panayi in Dublin in the Eurovision Song Contest.
She studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA and she participated in the University's Music Society. She was the only foreigner performer in the A Capella Vocal Jazz Group at Berklee. She graduated with Honours.
For the past few years she has been working with popular local and Greek entertainers.
She is currently the Director of the Music Production in the Disney Greek Dubbing Department and has sung in a number of Disney animation movies.
