Biography
Nina Åström comes from Kokkola, a small town on Finland’s northwestern coast, where she lives with her husband Bernhard and their 12-year-old twin daughters Wilma and Natalie. Nina, who is 37 years of age, started working professionally with music in 1992. But since she has a Christian reportoire, she did not become a household name in Finland until she qualified for this year’s Finnish Eurovision final. She has four previous CD albums to her credit, two of which have been recorded in Nashville, USA. The most recent one, "A Friend", was recorded and released in the Netherlands last year. A Finnish version of this album is now planned.
Italian Luca Genta has a diploma in playing the cello, but he can also play many other instruments. On top of that, he also sings, produces, composes and writes musical scores. Luca moved to the Netherlands in 1992 and earns his daily bread mainly by producing and accompanying other artists. Among other things, he produced Nina Åström’s latest album "A Friend". Lyricist Gerrit aan’t Goor originally started studying healthcare, but has found his profession in the world of music. During the 1980s he was the head of sales and PR in a Dutch Christian youth organization, and during that time, he started hiring international artists to the Flevo festival, one of Europe’s biggest Christian festivals. In 1992 he met Nina Åström, which became the start of a long professional relationship. Gerrit is now Nina’s manager and also writes the greater part of her song lyrics.
