Biography
The provoker who ultimately strives for absolute individualism.
Born in 1967 Alf Poier kept his head above water with various jobs such as: Night watchman, chimney sweep, receptionist, door to door salesman, journalist and long-distance runner, before his first appearance in cabaret.
1995 he appeared on stage for the first time and won several prizes : The "Salzburg Bull", the "German Cabaret-prize", the "Prix Pantheon", the "RTL Comedy Award" and the Austrian Cabaret-prize the " Karl".
Alf Poier: “My song called ‘Man is the measure of all things’ is all about animals living in the filth produced by man. But things like water, the timber in the forest, anthills, pure light, elephants with their trunks and cockroaches living under tiles have to count as well. My song is a hymn for individualism and against collectivism. I am also for balls and against circles, for corners and against edges, for trees and against the forest. In my performance it is not so much the song that counts but the moral attitude behind it. Whoever votes for me is against being standardized and cemented in by ‘European Banality’.”
