Day 2: Armenia, Netherlands and Finland

The day two lunch break is over and Armenia, Netherlands and Finland take to the fantastic Belgrade stage for the second session of Eurovision Song Contest first semi final rehearsals in Serbia.

Song 14 - Armenia - Sirusho - Qele Qele

Sirusho appears on stage with three male dances and two male backing singers.  Certainly one of the most powerful focal performances so for in this contest.  Her voice has no trouble reaching the back of the arena.  Her backing dancers spend a lot of the time withering on the floor around Sirusho, they also perform some very energetic gymnastic moves.  All of this complements the singers performance which blends perfectly with her dancers.  It provides is a perfect platform for her to show her strong vocals.

Song 15 - The Netherlands - Your Heart Belongs To Me

Another very strong female vocal performance, this time from Hind of the Netherlands. She performs in front of several chandeliers which appear on big screens behind the stage. Today she is is dressed in hot pants, crop top and knee length boots.  On stage she has three female singers and two male dancers. Throughout the song Hind performs dance moves with the two men.  Her vocals are very clear with perfect diction.  It is always very easy understand the words while she is singing.

16 - Finland - Missa Miehet Ratsastaa

The only heavy metal band of the year, and the third rock song in a row for Finland, Terasbetoni give a strong performance. Vocally, the band is very solid for a metal act, and the harmonies work well. Whether metal can stand tall at the Eurovision Song Contest again just two years after Lordi is unknown, but the band are representing their genre with credit. The lighting and video background on stage are bright and there is a huge pyrotechnics display lasting almost 30 seconds, featuring steady fire streams, shots and flames. The lighting builds to strobes and the visual impact is very strong.

#Rita
haha... no I didn`t mean it like that (but sure that`ll be fun 2 watch 2 haha) I just meant what Crazyonvander said, she needs 2 be more included in the dance ( and since the boys r on the floor most of the time, she could get down 2 maybe or I dont know somehow be more included in the dance)

But I just read a Russian Interview with Diana Mnatsakanyan, the head of the Armenian delegation in ESC and she reveled some more stuff about how the end result will look like, so this r her words translated from Russian:

Ок. As you know, this years theme of Eurovision is - Confluence of Sound. Merge of water and a sound. The organizers choose this theme cause Belgrade is where the river Sava merges with Danube and as participants we are to construct our shows so they corresponded to the theme. Our 4 basic elements are - the Earth, Air, Fire and Water. If you listen closely to words of our song, especially the introduction on Armenian, you can already from there have small idea about how everything is gonna look like. Each of dancers will represent one of the elements which toward the end songs will be united in one - Love.

@Allan,
Why on earth she needs to be dirty with guys?
Are you transferring your fantasies on her? :)
Her performance is fine and she's very feminine and it's good that way. I agree with Crazyonvander's comment. She just needs to be more included into boys choreography.
But I'm sure Sirusho will give an outstanding performance.

am i the only one who liked almost everything?
i think sirusho's got a very strong voice and after a couple rehearsals everything will be ok
talking about chorejgraphy...what would u invent for such a song? i think that's it's pretty interesting and seems to be very difficult from the physical point of view. personally, i liked it.....it's not that usual, contrats with the song a bit, but that's not bad...the only thing..i guess sirusho should be More included to the dance..she and the dancers seem to be separate, that's all
besides with the appropriate dress, the show'll be better...though i can't imagine what the dancers should wear to move freely......
and when criticising...remember HEr girl dancers on one of the show...THAT was really awful....
anyway..try to do the same acrobatic moves
and i think that sirusho is charming...she really likes everything that happens there..that's visible!
and homo'erotic...I didn't notice much of that flavour....just a couple of times....don't exaggerate))))

not impressed with sirusho at all :( she is one of my faves in studio version, but live she was atrocious... good news is she still has a week or so, hence with a bit of fine tuning i still have hope for a good performance!!! :)

hind rocked!!! best live female performance sooo far, such a shame no1 will vote them :(

I agree Allan, im sure cameras will do their job to show the real performance. and also i think they r gonna do smth with her dress in the end :) dunno just 7 days lefttt cant wait ;)

Go Sirusho,We love You!!! :)

1 thing I wish was different about Armenia`s act if Sirusho was more active herself. If she stood on the guys, set on them or got down and drity with them, if she danced more with them then it would`ve looked much better. She should`ve tried 2 mix more with them.

But I think the camera work is the most important part here, with the right camera work (coz the videos from rehearsal wasn`t all that good, the dancer there doing lots of cool gymnastic movies and camera wasn`t even showing it or it was 2 dark on the sage 2 c it all) the show will come off just gr8. So the camera work is very important, otherwise nice CLEAN performance, not so much extra unnecessary stuff like Russia or Greece (although I like Greece 2)

Jeroen- what we saw on rehearsal was only 50% of the show...u should wait till may 20 to see her dress.the pyrothechnics and the surprise work!

International press" as u said, lol, can't ay anything now coz noone has seen the real show,so just wait for may 20. I just have to say Sirusho is really very self confident, and im 100% sure already that she's gonna win this year. So just wait for that,i'm sure u wont be surprised if she wins, she's in top 3 in bettin odds, leads in polls,so dont even suspect on her pwer :)

I am not deeply impressed from Armenia.
The music is nice but not more then that.
The Netherlands has more quality song and strong performance.
The whole song is telling a story.
We shall wait for the results and Armenia shall be to the final but the Netherlands also!
The internationall press say: Armenia is a good/nice song but shall not win the ESC!
Netherlands has a powerfull woman with a good song and good perfromance!!!
For the final:
Russia
Norway
Armenia
Netherlands
Romenia
Greece but only she is the last in the semi to has be singing
Belgium
Israel
Azerbeidzjan/Moldavie/bosnie

If she`d had drums and typical Armenian style dancing that would`ve been 2 predictable and ppl would`ve bitched about that, that it`s 2 predictable, 2 Helena P-ish, nothing special ect.

So I think she`s done a smart thing by have a modern/neutral choreography 2 not be predictable, stay clean (the performance is very clean) and tone done the ethnic tones a bit so she`ll gain votes from both East and West (+ the homo erotic touch in the beginning of the choreography 2 appeal 2 gays 2)

Daniel Perez.Garcia [44581]

I like the armenian entry, obviously sirusho will be in the final, of course!!!

about netherland, the song is ok, and I like, but I don´t think that she´ll qualify to the final.... good luck!

finland... ahhh I don´t like metal, so I don´t like the song....

Yes the Armenian dancers are touching in the begining of the song like they are in love I must say... First I thought one is woman but then I sow that I am wrong.

#Michael Perez

Come on, even if Kate Ryan herself represented Armenia she wouldn`t do "Kate Ryan" haha so I`m sure she`ll qualify and may even win

She`s got the ethnic tones - Votes from East
Modern/neutral dancing/choreography toning the ethnic tones down a bit - Votes from West
Homo erotic touch in the dancing - Votes from Gays

Basically a whole lot of votes :) So I dont c her doing any Kate R.
