Iceland are going for it!

Can Eurovision fans win Eurovision?

Iceland's Eurovision Song Contest hopes for 2008 rest in possibly the safest hands in the competition this year. International superstars, national divas, reigning pop idol champions or multi-million selling artists they may not be (yet), but Fridrik Omar and Regina Osk proved to fans and journalists last night at the Icelandic party that Eurovision fans can put up a fight and go head to head with Europe's best performers.

The first Eurovision Song Contest tribute band to participate at the competition dazzled fans with a full live set of Eurovision winning songs, competition favourites and their versions of some of Iceland's entries at their official party.

Iceland hosted their first official party for several years at the Eurovision Song Contest. With the recent traditional Nordic Party having been dropped for 2008, the Icelandic delegation hosted a special night of their own to show off the whole of Euroband. Whilst Fridrik and Regina will perform This is my life in the second Eurovision Song Contest semi final, they performed a full set with the whole six piece band at Belgrade's trendy Magacin nightclub.

The Icelandic singers were joined by the full line-up of Euroband for a live music spectacular that showed off the singers' vocal talents as well as their love for the Eurovision Song Contest. They are not a band dedicated to their song and performance on the night, they are a band founded on their favourite music show and working hard to honour it. Winning the Eurovision Song Contest would be the realisation of a true fairy tail for Fridrik Omar and Regina Osk.

You tube videos from tonight's concert will be added in the coming hours.

P. Eriks! I think when Euroband has finsish theyr performans and Sweden go on stage, people will still be talking and enjoying about Reginu and Fridrik performans, so I think Charlotte will be in the shadow because of them. She don't smile or anything
...she is not giving me anything :(
It would be scandal if euroband wouldn't get to the final.
Reykjavik 2009!!

i think the the countris that are eliminated is better that they do not vote in the final night....and we have the previous 1 point..2 points...bla bla..we reduce diaspora voting...since they are elimanted they do not have ny intention to vote for the best song i think.

The only bad thing with Iceland this year is the performance, I don't know if it's strong enough to be remembered. Especially when Sweden performs after them!
However, I hope to see them in the final. And they, together with Denmark, will have my votes in the semi-2.
Tonight, I'll be flying the Norwegian flag! MARIA!!!

Best Icelandic entry since 1999, deserves to qualify and deserves to be in the top 5.

Iceland will qualify for the final, they passion for this contest will come off on camera, and may even sink Sweden's chances.

I'd be one happy fan if they win on Saturday, but i just don't see that happening, which is such a shame.

They have my vote on Thursday though!

Iceland is the best this year, if they qualify, they'll crush everything!!

but i have a bad feeling about performing 1st... : (

please Europe, don't waste this song like you did last year

(the whole Eurovision system changed because Cyrpus did not qualify in 2007!!)

Iceland soooo deserves to win the contest this year...

Since 2001 we've only first-time-winners, and this year Iceland surely would be a fully deserve win if they won.

Iceland has brought so many great entries to the contest since 1986. And these two are perfect performers for this kind of song. I'm so looking forward to see song no. 1 on Thursday.

Áfram Ísland, and good luck to Regina Ósk & Friðrik Ómar. Just give your best, and it will be perfect :)

Iceland to win it is the perfect pop track catchy upbeat and most of they can sing. After Selma in 06, Kate Ryan in 07 and Evridki last year if Euroband dont win it will be the biggest tragedy in Eurovision history since Abba failed to qualify the first time round
