Even if they are not in the 2008 final

Netherlands will participate in 2009

The Netherlands' national broadcaster, NOS, has confirmed to esctoday.com's partner website, songfestival-weblog.nl that they will return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009.

Last year, there was concerns that the broadcaster would withdraw from the competition after failure to qualify for the Eurovision Song Contest for a second successfive year. Today, they have confirmed that they will not withdraw from the competition if Hind does not reach the final tonight.

The statement comes before the show where Hind is not seen as one of the ten most likely qualifiers and should kill off any rumours about the country's withdrawal should they miss out on an appearance in the final for a third year in a row.

Yes, The Netherlands was SO ROBBED!!!! Before the contest i didn't pay much atention to the song, because i hadn't liked the last 3 or 4 Dutch songs. But then last night she was truly fabulous, she had a great voice and everything was in its right place. That she didn't qualify, when that horrid American-Polish "mermaid from hell" or that cheap Armenian hooker did, says a lot on what this contest is all about. And it's better not even mention the Russian 3-minute-masturbation or the cheap Greek copy of Britney Spears. So, I don't see any point in the participation of the Netherlands, because they won't ever again qualify. They simply don't have a diaspora or enough neighbours to vote for them, like some countries do.

do not participate...out from the contest:ireland, belgium, turkey and netherlands

It's an absolute travesty that the Netherlands didn't get through. The song and performance were far better than Armenia's similar offering. It and Israel were the two strongest numbers of the night, by far. I correctly predicted 8 out of the 10 qualifiers last night, so regional voting is evidently still in full force, despite the new voting system. The Netherlands should withdraw - in fact I think (and have thought so since Lordi) that the whole contest should be stopped. I love it, otherwise I wouldn't write a blog about it, but it's become a farce which bears no resemblance to what it used to in the past or even as recently as five years ago.

Hind sooooooooooo deserved to qualify!!!!!!
She had one of the best vocal performances of the night, (not that thats saying much)! And her performance fitted the song perfectly!, she actually seems to be one of the few entrants this year that understands the concept of less is more! unlike for instance Russia who not only had a poor song and vocals, but whose performance actually turned out to be REALLY poor with some sort of tiny ice cube on the stage (hardly spectacular as the Russians would have had you believe), shame it was them who qualified and this classy performance was overlooked.
There is no accounting for taste!

I guess it will be
1.Armenia (I guess this is nothing special)
2.Russia (people say they'll win, dont like this song that much)
3.Greece (deja vu, but it works always, she is cute and sings well)
4.Romania (they will surprise and get one of the higher positions tonight)
5.Bosnia ( It will reach the final)
6.Arzerbeijan (it will get it for the show)
7.Ireland ( I guess they will do it near the 9 th place)
8.Norway ( I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't reach the final, but I will hope Europe still have some taste)
9.Poland (a strong performer) or Belgium (it will be probably the surprise of the night)
10. The juri vote will go for Moldova, Israel or The Netherlands (Dutch deserve it!)
11.Slovenia ( It can reach the final, but its nothing special)

Good good, that's sporting of them, rather than having a fit after the contest.

Although I seriously hope the Netherlands qualify, and do well.
