Melodi Grand Prix 2009
Norway: National Final on February 21st
The same system that has been used since 2006 will be in use this year too: 18 songs will participate in 3 semifinals - 6 song in each semifinal. The first two places will get a place in the final, while the 3rd and 4th places will get a place in the Siste Sjansen (Last Chance) round, where they will get another chance to take part in the final. In the final, 8 songs will participate, the top 4 will qualify to a "superfinal" and there they will face a regional televoting across Norway, and the winner will get the Norwegian ticket to Moscow.
A new rule is introduced: 50% (a half) of the songwriting team must be Norwegian citizens, or residents in Norway.
Dates for Melodi Grand Prix 2009:
1st Semifinal - 24.01.2009
2nd Semifinal - 31.01.2009
3rd Semifinal - 07.02.2009
Siste Sjansen - 14.02.2009
Final - 21.02.2009
Maria Haukaas Storeng finished 5th in Belgrade with the song Hold On, Be Strong. It is unknown if Norway will take part in the semifinals or directly in the final in 2009, due to changes in the system that might be introduced this year.

Macedonia should have won in 2004! I've also liked both of Karolina's entries a lot. The only Macedonian entry I've really not liked is that horrid Martin-person in 2005 who definitely didn't make MY day... This year's entry was just plain boring, so that didn't do much for me either. So I have to say that most years I think they've deserved to qualify for the final.
sorry, i meant the 2006 one
johny,
there is only one fyromian entry i like and that is 2005, but i do not think any entry from fyrom has ever been overrated by anyone except the fyromian friends of this site. I always here complains from people who have not liked these entries at all and they do not understand why they manage to qualify.
Good luck!
I hope for The Foggy Few, Christine Guldbransen or Publiners.
Vincent
From FYROM I really like the 2007, 2006 & 2004 entries. 2005 was just awful and the 2008 live performance was bad, but in 04, 06 & 07 they deserved a top 10 at least in my opinion. Whilst alot of their songs have been over-rated, alot have been under-rated aswell
johny,
it is clear to me by now that Sweden and Norway are your favourite countries in the ESC. I guess everybody knows this by now :-) But hnestly i did not know that you liked Fyrom and its entries that much. You have rarely refered to any of these. Are the fyromian entries really some of your favourites, and if yes, which ones do you like most? (just curious :-)
LOL Vincent
Your bottom 3 countries are some of my favourites!!
Especially Sweden & Norway!
Excluding my own country,
Sweden
is my favourite in fact!
Mackintosh-Screechman Millan...... thanks
Norway did a really good job this year.... It was a true ESC song, and they made a great NF too. I hope they will choose 18 really good songs next year too.
Good Luck to Norway!!!
1. a KISS for Mina from Greece - I so much love Your country (sea and everything)
2. Norway model is one of best to select a truly good song... Norway is on good way to be winner again... (last year they missed a little with song - I mean latino song from Norway hmmm...)
but that Alvedansen, this year Maria, and off course Elisabeth Andearsen with Evighnet my God WHAT A SONGS!!!!
nORWAY ALL THE BEST FROM mE!
My post is gone too. What I said was the the "Siste sjansen" (Free transl.: Last Chance) will be a complete show this time, not a bunch of videos.
..but i must say that i liked very very very much "alvadansen", Norway 2006(magiacally great, for a long time before the ESC 2006 i had been seeing this as a possible winner, a big disappointment it finished only 15th), i also found "nocturne very very nice, but i do not consider these as the typical, boring, fussy and meaningless norwegian ESC entries
My top bottom countries IN the ESC ever:
1. Sweden
2. NORWAY
3 Fyrom
My posts from yesterday have magically dissappeared!!!!! lol
Seems i'm not the only one though!
Maybe they're upgrading the site? Very strange all this.
the article about Terry Wogan is gone, so are all the reactions from today on this topic....
Hmmmmm I'm from Greece, Ajdin from Bosnia and you, TK, from Sydney..maybe they made it work only for western Europeans
(That was a joke
)
@mina : its weird ive noticed it too... wtf is goin on???
god if this keps goin on u will hav to add me on msn so we can hav our only lil discussions
And on this article, I can't see any posts from today...except mine and yours, Ajdin! All the rest are from yesterday
Welcome to the twilight zone..:->
@mina
Yes, me too. I can't see article about Terry Wogan.
Is it just me or did the news about Terry disappear for everyone?
My favourite Norwegian entry is "In my dreams". I also like very much Norway's 0-pointer "Aldri i livet". "Nocturne" is beautiful but as this is a song contest I think the entries should contain more than 25 words.
As for any changes in the format I agree with Mina except for point 1. I think the winner only should go straight to the final.
@keith: hmmm i really love fuck deg by sichelle

im really really lovin bertina zetiltz
she is amazing
haha already knew annie, but cant seem to download i know ur girlfriend hates me, where else can i try????
erlend is definatley a worthy idol!!
maria mena is really good!!!!
wow mate norway has some cool music!!! man nearly knocking sweden off my scandanavian pedestal, but still kent and robyn are the bomb!!!
I've liked some Norwegian entries in the past..Nocturne still the best (maybe the best eurovision song ever), but Hold on, be strong is also among my favourites and In my dreams another one of my favourites.
About the changes in the system, what I think would be fair is if 1. at least the top 3 countries went straight to the final 2. the 2 semis should remain 3. one vote per phone and 4. 50/50 jury/televoting....number 3 and 4 together or at least one of them.
c chénial la norvege voilà XD
Good luck Norway, and thank you for amazing song this year in Belgrade!
@keith: cheers mate
will chek em out asap, spesh the ones in norwegian
