Israel Bar'On won Israeli Idol 6!
Israel for Israel at Eurovision?
One year ago, Boaz Mauda won Israeli Idol 5 and was chosen by IBA with co-operation of Keshet and Channel 2, to represent Israel in Belgrade. Though nothing is confirmed, the successful 9th place of Boaz in the Eurovision Song Contest and the high ratings for the preselection and the shows in Belgrade, IBA might use the same system this year too.
You can watch one of his performances, a cover to the song "Nissim", originally by Ivri Lider, here:

I think he is a really good singer. I voted for him and I'm not a little kid. Lots of people love him, but I think Lee Biran suits more for the euorovision, coz he has songs in english and it will be easier for him. I would also be very happy to see Israel in the eurovision. Great singer.
here is some of the suggestions who Israel should send to 2009 Eurovision:

AND.....AGAIN TO SEND THE QUEEN DANA INTERNATIONAL
Two words:-
RED
BAND!!
Israel should send the Sisters G from the last season. They're so cute and such gay icons they would do a great job in Moscow.
*Marcus Faber
No,he was not the best at all!!!
But televoters in Israel are mainly young girls who send many sms's and vote via internet too...They liked him cause he resembels Har'el Ska'at,a former israeli runner up in "star is born" and a very popular singer.
Try to watch Bat -chen Hakia with her performences and you will hear the best vocalist this season...
She didn't make it cause she is a woman +she is not so thin...(talking about shallowness...)
He is a very cute boy, with a touching story, and has some appeal. But he is not a singer, but rather an interpreter, and that's a big difference.
Boaz was a surprise success because at the moment of truth he gave the best vocal of his life in the semi-final in Belgrade (not the final though!!) and 9th place is 'OK' at best, not a huge success (although much better then previously anticipated).
In short, you need to be a good vocalist to really succeed in ESC, and Israel Bar-On is not.
Carmel should have won....pitty
Israel is a singer fr little girls who voted for him...
i hope Israel will choose a better representitive for Moscow 2009
Israel should send RED BAND!!!!!
Why not, after Dustin?
Foe the cypris guy.
Israel(Yisrae) was the second name of Jacob the father.
Next Sunday we have an OGAE mneeting.I hope we will get some information on it.
I wrote in oikotimes that there is a possible that he will represent Israel.
Because of the shortcoming budget in IBA this is the bset solution to find candidates for the ESC.
Hope we will have more information next week
Boaz really did great job in Belgrade...In my opinion he had best vocal performance so far...Maybe they should use the same system of selection...Bar'On can do even better than 9th place...in Moscow...
He is cute, but he's not a good singer.
i didnt know that in israel have a name of a boy the same with the country lol.is like here in cyprus in greek we call kipros and in cyprus we have a name of a boy call kipros loooooooool.also in greece which means in greek ellada they have a girl name ellada looooooooooooool.i cant hear him btw cause in my computer it says sorry this video is not longer available.i hope he is good cause isarel is one of my favourate country in esc and for me the best esc song ever come from israel in 2005 SHIRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!.
He is sweet and his voice isn't bad, I wouldn't mind seeing him representing Israel.
Oh... good
;-)
I hope not, Its bad singer that win because a little girls that vote for him
I hope we sand Lee Biran with rock blad

They all were great!
I´m not impressed.
People - NOTHING IS KNOWN OF ISRAEL 2009 (absolutely nothing), There aren't even any rumours flying around. so stop treating him as Israel 2009.
In the last OGAE meeting before ESC08, Head of Entertainment at IBA, mr Yoav Ginai was asked weather IBA and CH@ would continue their format for 2009. He replied that it first of all depends on Boaz's success in Belgrade, which we now all know was very good, but since then not a single word was said concerning this manner. I wouldn;t even jump to any assumptions.
Time will tell
He has great voice and he was my fav.
he sucks.. im sorry but im a guy, so i dont see his appeal and i can only care about the voice which aint that good.. he sounds like hes.. reciting the lyrics, not singing... Israel cant pull it off, find someone better... Now Russia might make him a winner, but that would be lame and annoying just like Dima's victory was.....
He can't sing >.
56% of voters thought he was. First runner up got only 24% and the second runner up 20%. He was rumored to win it right from the start, mainly because of his personal background (left his parents more than a year ago because of their strict religious approach and supported himself on his own) and some facial similarities to 2004 runner up Harel Sqa'at. The jury didn't always see eye to eye about his vocal capability and most newspaper and internet critics said he tended to miss notes occassionally, but altogether he managed to win over the mainly female hormone crazed teenager vote...!!!
Has he really been the best?
.....boring.......
IBA will not repeat last year's cooperation with Channel 2 because it was so marginalized in the process that it didn't have a say in it. Channel 2 unilaterally decided that Boaz Mauda would be Israel's representative in 2008 and backed off from its original premise to hold a national selection with past and current Idol participants. Channel 2's pre-Eurovision show with Boaz Mauda was a disgrace and all orchestrated in a manner that made sure that Dana International's song 'Ke'ilu Kan' would be elected. the fact that this decision paid off doesn't mean that it should be repeated this year.
I suspect that IBA will make an internal selection like in 2007 with TEAPACKS or decline to participate due to severe budgetary problems. We'll probably know by late November where things stand.
Cute, but he can't sing.
