Turkey: Mor ve otesi to open for R.E.M

Mor ve otesi, the rock band who represented Turkey in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, will be the opening act for popular band R.E.M. in the season’s final open air rock concert in Istanbul, on 4 October. The band’s lead singer, will also be hosting his own talk show on Haberturk channel, on Thursdays.

Harun Tekin, lead singer of the popular rock band, is currently the host of the weekly talk show Kisa Devre, on Haber Turk channel, every Thursday at 20.00 local time. Together with psychiatrist Cem Mumcu and actress Pelin Batu they will be discussing current affairs and interviewing guests.

Mor ve otesi, who achieved a respectable 7th position at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, will be opening the show at the S.O.S. festival, preceding world famous band R.E.M. and Spiritualized. The band, who will soon be releasing their next album, are thrilled to be part of this lineup. More information on the show and tickets can be found  through the band's official site here or here.

@Altin
i anderstand what u mean BUT u have to anderstand that at Greece live thousands of immigrants(Albania - Russia - Ukraine e.t.c...) which can change the Greek vote .....!!
I voted for Turkey at 2003(first time i voted at esc) - 2006(more for Sibel than for the song) - 2008...!!Most of the young people loved the Turkish song and i cant anderstand how no votes were given....REALLY STRANGE!!!

Deli deserved to be stranded in the semi final in my opinion
but thanks to their invention called "immgration" they didn't

This year Turkey really deserved their high placing,... and that's not always the case.... This is together with For real, one of Turkey's best ever entries. Well done, and lots of succes in the future...

I agree, "Deli" was one of the best songs this year and I voted for it. My favourite Turkish entries though are "Everyway that I can" and "For real" :)

They were very good on stage in Belgrade. Very good song and very sexy singer imo. I think it's obvious that Turks benefit from their diaspora but since Sertab they have really been making efforts to send good professional acts (except 2005, of course).

One of the best songs this year. And yes, Turkey makes quite an effort each year. But denying they profit from their diaspora is ignoring the facts. The high marks from Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands are because of the diaspora. Also I think performing in the final each year and even reaching a top 15 place, is quite some success. Other countries can only dream of a place in the final, even when their song is equally good, for example Andorra 2007 and Slovenia 2005.

They have great songs like Cambaz, Sirket...
you can find their videos on youtube!

One of my favorates from this year. They are like U2 meets the Manic Street Preachers, in Turkish.

Did they pretend to play their instruments at eurovision? I really can't tell. The drummer doesn't look like he was miming.

What other good songs have they done?

Cyprus is gonna win ESC next year? [49443]

If turkey is overrated via diaspora, why don't they always reach high position? In 2003 they won with top artist top performer, in 97 3rd, in 2004 and 2007 4th, in 2008 7th, other years below top 10, 11th, 13th etc. Why? Because its not diaspora, it their result is based on their effort., otherwise they would always win or be in top three as you say there is diaspora. There you go, Turkey is not overrated when they reach high position with good quality work.

(i) As recent years, Turkey was clearly overrated due to its huge diaspora. This year will be quite different??? (i)

Lol, what makes you think it gonna be different this year?
