Male (vocal) performances

esctoday.com awards 2008: Your nominations (5)

It's time for the fifth round of nominations for the 2008 esctoday.com awards. After the female performances and vocal performances it will now be decided who is going to be nominated in the categories Best male performance and Best male vocal performance.

Best male performance

In 2006, this award went to Dima Bilan from Russia who would win the Eurovision Song Contest two years later. Koldun from Belraus, who was often compared to Dima Bilan during the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, was the winner of this award last year. In 2008, twelve male soloists took part in the competition and can be nominated in this category (there will also be an award for Best band performance).

  • You can vote for the nominees for Best male performance here.

Male vocal performance

This award was introduced last year and Roger Cicero from Germany won it for his performance of Frauen regieren die Welt. Apart from the twelve solo performers, the male parts of the duos from Iceland and Romania and the male lead singers of the groups from San Marino, Latvia and F.Y.R. Macedonia as well as the all-male groups and duos from Estonia, Azerbaijan, Finland, Turkey and Croatia can be nominated.

I have discovered that couples are not allowed for this category, only singles. So my nominees are:

Dima and.............Dima.
LOL

Has to be between Boaz, Vlad and Paolo. Boaz is an obvious and deserved choice - surprised to see how few people are mentioning Paolo and particularly Vlad on here!

I actually thought Andy's vocals were ok, but nothing special in the contest. Many UK voters think he has a great voice. I don't think it's biased "nationalism" but rather they are familiar with Andy from X-factor and know how good his voicecan be, if given a good song. The song didn't seem to suit his voice at all to me, and I think it made him sound worse than he is.

Best male performance: France (Denmark was close but I just loved France. Less is more.)
Best male vocals: UNITED KINGDOM!
(I may be from the UK myself but after everything this year, best male vocals is one thing Andy's performance can and should EXCEL in! Come on guys, watch it back, put the song aside and tell me Andy isn't an amazing singer. It takes quite a voice to win over the UK public week after week to become an X Factor runner up after all!)

Best male performance: Laka
Best male vocal performance: Boaz Mauda

I think that best male performance will go to Denmark, UK or Bosnia and Herzegovina. All the others didn't had THAT kind of performance, which could get on first place.
