Chiara still working for Eurovision win
Chiara returned Malta to the Eurovision Song Contest final for the first time since 2006, achieving the hopes and targes set by national broadcaster PBS. However, the singer who took third place in 1998 and second place in 2005 could only win 31 points and 21st place in the Grand Final last night.
Commenting on last night's result, Chiara said "I didn't want to raise people's expectations, but I felt eight good songs were in with a chance to win and Malta was among them". Earlier this week, she said in an exclusive interview with esctoday.com that she is competitive and wants to win. If she should not, she would be disappointed for about 30 minutes but then be happy again. You can watch the interview below.
Chiara returns to Malta this evening, and cannot compete in the Malta Song for Europe in 2010 because the previous winner is not allowed to compete the following year. Chiara can make her fourth attempt to represent Malta at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. She has competed in the Maltese final three times and never lost.

Chiara has a superb voice. It's not her fault that the song was dreadful. She made the very, very best of the crap music & lyrics. Do try again Chiara! you have the sweetest voice. I think voice wise it was you, Jade and the girl in the blue horrid dress that looked like a bridesmaid frock from the 80's (Iceland)... LOL
MALTA should be proud of Chiara. She had a good song but there were many good songs this year. And Chiara was amongst the best performers this year and should have finished top 5. What if we IS a good song but it grows on you and was maybe not as instant as many songs.
I would love to see Chiara sing again nad would love Malta to win ESC more than any other country

I'm a fan of Chiara's and I loved her entries in 1998 and 2005 but being completely honest, this one was nowhere near as good.
I never listen to the songs before the semi-finals so I was judging the song on a "first listen" basis (as with the majority or Europe) and when I heard it I thought, hmmm, it's ok but nothing special.
Her vocals were a tad too sqeaky at times during the chorus but the overall performance was good. I knew it wouldn't finish in the top 10 though but I am surprised it didn't do a little better.
I'd love to see her come back again and win for Malta, she really deserves it! BUT, this time Chiara, use your experience and judgment a little bit better and chose the right song next time.
Although i like Chiara and although I never have been to Malta, (but it sure looks like a great Island), i think three times is enough. There should be more talent in your country, so give those artist a chance and take your loss. ´Loss´ is not such a great deal if you finished up 2 times in the top three, which is quite unique.
Malta doesn't have powerfull neighbors, so how can this country win? it's a shame for such a singer to be placed so low in the results table of Eurovision song contest.
Come back Chiara! Let a couple of years pass and do come back!! We all love you!

Malta was fantastic, but there were too many good songs for her to win. I still wish good luck for her anyways. Maybe they should send a new singer to ESC next year, or send another of Malta's charmers, Ira Losco.

The song this year simply wasn't strong enough. With a strong song she can definitely win!!!

I thought this song was a mistake for Chiara, it was hugely inferior to her previous songs at Eurovision. I think she shouldn't come back a fourth time, even those who aren't huge fans but just watch the contest seem to recognise her now and I suspect will not wish to see her back yet again.

I personally was surprised Chiara made it through the semi's, I thought her semi performance was very ordinary, but to her credit she did do better in the final. But that song didn't exactly have winner written on it...
Chiara has AMAZING voice and she prove all Europe that many times... I like her entry this year as well.
But please is there anyone else on Malta except Chiara and Fabrizio Faniello ??? I hope she won't return (at least in recent years), she should let someone else to try.

Oh Chiara get a grip and get over it for pities sake .I have never been keen on you as you are your biggest fan .If we are to talk about dissapoinment I think Soraya beats your hands down.What are you using Eurovision (and your hope) for a win for.If you were so adored and could sing anything but awful ballads in a screechy voice you would have had an international career by now.
I speak as a huge fan of Chiara when I say she should not come back unless she has THE song that will win her the trophy. I think she came back at the wrong time, much as I liked What if we.
The fuss the Maltese fans made about Gordon saying something not so nice about Chiara. While she herself does exactly the same thing on Xarabank about Alexander Rybak. Hypocryts.
oh come on chiara 3rd time unlucky, 4th time would be madness, imagine if u did worst next time, that would be disaster, its shame for soem one like chiara to keep coming back to participate malta. she did well in 1998 and in 2006, it would have been better for her not to paticipate with what if we that gives message "we're lost fading away" and result expected as many people have said that what if we was weak compare to her previous two songs in eurovision and that chiara should have known better for herself when she got that song written for her. Also people are tired of her now, and incase she change her style, it may not be in accordance with eurovision or suite her voice which can bring worst result, imagine if she stayed in semi-final next time she come back!..Its up to her ofcourse, she can decide what she wants to do, but!.....

Nice that you liked our song. Personally I didn`t like Teräsbetoni last year, but in my opinion Jarkko Ahola has very good and powerful voice.
OH NO!! I really liked her when she was in amsterdam but cant she just accept it???? Im already tired of her and Europe will be too if she'll be back again. STAY AWAY!!!!
Get a life woman! My God, this is simply unbelievable. How sad is it? I've had enough of watching this woman trying to bully her way into Eurovision. So what? She has a good voice? So many other artists have an exceptional voice AND they do not break and go shaky live either! This is just too much. I admire Sakis for the way he behaved after the result. But this woman wants to come back to haunt us with her silly neck moving from side to side, and that predictable wink. Malta would be the joke of europe if they ever dare present her to us again.
Absolutely loved the song, the performance and the singer.

I would be happy to have Chiara back, her entries are consistently good (if predictable) and she has one of the best voices in Europe, who are we to complain if such a talent wants to keep on entertaining us?
One of the big ballads was going to miss out I guess, and France, The UK and Iceland kind of stole her thunder I guess.
Chiara and Malta, you shoudl be proud of your entry and your performance and I can't wait to see what you offer us next year. Malta are nearly always amongst my favourites.
