Finally there will be 13 countries competing in JESC 2009. Greece, Lithuania and Bulgaria have withdrawn while Sweden is back again (something I can't understand).
JESC 2010 will be placed in Minsk (if JESC survives).

@Mario mir last year Israel says that is going to participate to JESC in Cyprus, the withraw and Cyprus television make a statement that Israel withdraw beacuse of financial problems and Israel television says that is going to make a debut in JESC 2009, so is not a rumours . Maybe this year Israel decite to not participate in Jesc. As for Azerbaijan is not good that excuse about EDC. It sound like avenge
Betty
I loved the books on William
@ Lina
Ictimai confirmed to ESCkaz that Azerbaijan is not going to debut this year despite cancellation of EDC.
Israel and Poland confirmed to Oikotimes that rumours about possible participation in JESC 2009 were totally false and they are not interested in.
Greece and Lithuania withdrawn. Does final Israel and Azerbaijan is going to join JESC?
According to oiko LIthuania has withdrawn from jESC. Things are not looking good for this contest.
@Lina
That's the problem with Belgium and The Netherlands, the kids and songs are too mature. The AVRO never learns from its mistakes.
@purple that is good , but i thing last year Belgium song was very mature for a children contest and with title very bad for a children song, the title was "shut up" .
She looks like Violet Elizabeth Bott from Just William
OMGGGGGG Just William is THE BEST!!!
Lina,
In the Netherlands and Belgium and I assume also other countries, kids do care for JESC. In the Netherlands kids don't care for ESC but they do care for JESC, and when they get older they will start to care for anything else Eurovision related. Children like JESC and that's what it's about, I don't care at all if adults don't like it.
I like her song, especially the refrain.
She looks like Violet Elizabeth Bott from Just William.
Maybe she will scream and scream until she is sick.
And let's hope the agonising and slightly pervy JESC will end this year.
Nice song...
@Stocholm he he he, Belgium entry was nice but not for kids
thats why i like it
Who on earth watches it?
I watched it last year, mainly because of the great Belgian entry
Cyprus is going to join this year beacuse last year was the host and is not good to withdraw now. But from next year Cyprus is going to withdraw. And personal i dont find any reason JESC and EDC to exist for that 3 reasons: 1. the kids care for ESC , 2. A lot of songs in ESC are circus and chilish
3. we have dancing show in ESC so why to have and dancing contest?
, i remember before years one Italian song contest for childs and a lot of countreys participate there also ( Cyprus came first one time), that was a real contest for childs ! inoccent children with nice children dresses to singing innocent and songs for children songs ( for cartoons, for children games etc) now the kids singing songs for love ( ! ), they singing mature pop, ballands and rap songs , with mature dresses and make up ( !)
I dont like when kids behave like 30 yo peoples. And for sure i dont like when JESC have televoting, beacuse people who vote are 99% 20 yo and up .For me last year only 2-3 songs was for kids and one of them was the winning countrey ( Georgia ). But FYRO Macedonia and Netherlands for example have good songs but very mature
I don't get all those ppl ALWAYS waiting for JESC article to come on esctoday to say all bad stuff abut this competition.
If u don't like it, don't watch it and let others to enjoy.... GEEEE
As for Russian entry, I think it's great. Way better than last year, and I think it will do well... Can't wait for rest of the songs.
Well, it will depend on Malta, Armenia, FYR Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia.
Certainly I highly doubt that FYROM could participate by its financial problems, and about Malta is quite strange that TVM hasn't made any announcement about preselection procedures.
Azerbaijan has confirmed no interest in debuting.
Greece and Lithuania withdrew, if 2 more countries do the same, JESC may be cancelled indeed.
But JESC has just awful music (the onyl masterpiece was Belgium 2008), i won't be watching it anymore (or maybe just the voting lol)
@Blaise Jones
The problem is only with you. Sorry, but I just can't stand and understand people reacting like that. Leave the contest alone and let the people who love it to watch it. It's so simple!
@ Mario Mir
Thanks for the information. So I guess no EDC and JESC this year.
@ Kathrin
June 6th is the deadline for announcing the list of participants of this JESC edition. ESCkaz tells that EBU should publish the preliminary list on mid-May but it didn't happen. Certainly only seven countries have publicly stated their plans for JESC (if you check Wikipedia, you'll see that Romania has no references) and Lithuania confirmed its withdrawal just today (Greece did the same months ago).
At this point, I really think that JESC 2009 won't finally happen. With 7-8 countries it has no sense. Sorry for Kyiv!
One more thing I have to add, is about Spain, which send us alot of rubbish to Eurovision, but in the past gave us 4 masterpieces at the JESC shows.
