Pierre Kartner performs demo version
The Dutch entry is Ik ben verliefd (Sha-la-lie)
Six different versions of this song will be performed by six different artists in the Dutch national final on 7th February. Pierre Kartner has already written the Dutch entry in 1973, which was called De oude muizkant. The song finished 14th among 17 contestants.
Reactions to the song so far were mixed. DJ Daniël Dekker, host of the radio show, said: "I think this song will be a very big hit. It sounds very international to my ears." Cornald Maas, Dutch commentator in Oslo along with Daniël Dekker commentes: "It's not a very cotemporary song. It reminds me of the seventies. To be honest; it's not really my cup of tea, but it will stand out because its unique style."
In 2009, the Netherlands were represented by De Topper with the song Shine. They finished 17th in the second semi final thus not qualifying for the final. The last time the Netherlands have qualified for a Eurovision final was in 2004.

Remember Latvia in 2008??? The song did very well! So could this
Edsilia is one of the coaches this year. In fact she is our only hope.
I think Edsilia Rombley could do this really well!! Bring her back!!
A friend of mine reckons this is all a publicity hoax just to get
publicity for the contest....and that the real song will be nothing like this in the end. I am in two minds about that, but he is convinced.
@FilCroft ''After De Toppers, who I hate the most you could even imagine, this? If any of the Czech journalists hear this one, the reputation of the contest in my country will be forever dead...''
The Czech Republic is one of the last countries that is allowed to criticise other songs haha ;-) What about your own songs the last couple of years? They were not much better, were they? :-)
Besides, this is just a demo. There will be 6 different arrangements. So who knows, maybe it will improve :-)
well....this maybe would have done ok many many years ago, but in 2010...not so sure about that. theres sumthn about this song that doesnt have 'write off' all over it, but if the song is re arranged music wise, maybe we will c then
When he singing sha-la-lie for me its sound similar like one part of song Kiss the girl from Little marmaid. With teenage singer, new arangment and good visual stage performance I think The Netherlands have good chance to go in final .
cross my fingers butr have seripis doubts about this..... I really hate it although it's only a demo..... can onl;y improve but you can not make a masterpiece with this, whatever arrangement....
I can hardly believe it, but Im starting to like the song
Do Dutch broadcaster think that this song makes sense in 2010 ? Perhaps is a song for the JESC. I am afraid that NL are not going to reach the final again.
It's like a really bad Christmas song, and I Hate Christmas carols!!! Sorry Netherlands but it looks like they're staying in the semis. Hopefully this will be the worst entry for next year x)
@ DannyT
Lol'd @ Dutch Butlins XD ur right!!
I actually think his 1973 effort was better. And I mean better in the sense that it would be better than this for the 2010 contest.
It's not just old-fashioned (which isn't a bad thing per se, most of the times), it's the school behind it, the taste really. This kind of song is for bavarian morning broadcasts, presented outdoors amid cows in a sunny alpine village. I cannot imagine who would want to start off a career by singing this in front of the eurovision audience.
This is probably going to be the worst song pf Eurovision 2010 and I don't think I need to hear the rest of what will be entered (or well maybe Albania or Croatia will come up with something awful as they do that on a regular basis)
Even though this is only a demo the song is just a mish mash of so much wrong - here's my top ten problems
10 Bad backing singers
09 It would be suitable for a Dutch Butlins
08 Its not even so bad that its good
07 Sha-la-lie Sha-la-la is not catchy
06 The awful idea that this (or something similar) is considered acceptable for people to actually hear
05 He is kinda annoying to look at
04 The electric guitar
03 It's in Dutch
02 It's beyond old fashioned - this is bloody prehistoric
01 Is that frakkin panpipes i.e. the most horrible noise ever introduced into supermarket playlist?!
Anyway Holland better luck next year cos I can't be bothered reserving judgment after the noise I was subjected to
guys please stop making such a smart comments, cuntries can send whoever whatever they want, thats what its all about, music culture not just a song that can be perfect suit for everyone, some can score high some can score low, no need to call it crap, netherland should withdraw etc... that is too smart and rubbish comment
when i listen it i was very schocked
it's fully terrible.
i think it must go to JESC ,not ESC
and think someone tell it to Nederlands what a big mistake that they do ...
Let there be Hope
Why call it crap when you should let there be hope!..
CRAP......!!!!!!!! reminds me german country songs...loooool
I love it!!!!!!!
12 pts from Armenia
Sha-la-lie sha-lala sha-la-lie
Fucking shit. A joke.
Hi all, I think this is all a big publicity stunt by the TROS as not even they are so stupid as to send something like to Eurovision 2010. Just wait until 7 Feb and the 6 'versions' will be entirely different, text and all!!!
I like it. It's pleasant and catchy. And it will end up sounding more modern.
Stefan P
If its It's like the songs for little kids that you used to listen to, this years winner fairytale was even more little kids song to many people and yet again it won esc, so don't be so positive that it will not make it to the final, you never know what will happen. it may or it may not reach the final, nothing is guaranteed
the sad thing is I like it. However I am positive that it will not make it to the final. It's like the songs for little kids that I used to listen to
YESS!!!!!! In my opinion a truly fun and incredibly Eurovisiony song!!!
Sounds like songs I've heard as a child on schlager radio stations by my grandparents. I'm eager to hear the six different versions though.
Guys, everything is a cycle. which has a defined trajectory.Netherlands has 4 victories, has had very good entries in the past, now the interest is much lower, bad entries have been sent since 2004 and onwards. maybe this is the pick point. after that there might be an absence of two years and after that they will think it's better for the country to send something professional and tasty. Look what happened with Greece. It was always in the bottom places and after 2000 it became a big power in ESC. EVERYTHING IS A CYCLE....
Otherwise, this song will raise such criticism that I am sure they will consider again to send something else. Netherlands is not a small country, it is a considerable music industry and a very important market in Europe. They wouldn't let this happen, even if it s about ESC, which is not THE music event in Europe, but a show event
lol .... heheh !
kewlll
i lov netherlands but this entry hm loooooooooool !
GOOD LUCK =]
