Työlki ellää
Finland sends Kuunkuiskaajat to the Eurovision Song Contest
Ten acts competed in the national final and the winner was chosen in two rounds of televoting. In the first round, the top three were chosen:
- Nina Lassander - Cider Hill
(Janne Hyöty, Paul Oxley) - Eläkeläiset - Hulluna humpasta
(Kristian Voutilainen, Onni Waris/Onni Waris) - Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki ellää
(Timo Kiiskinen)
After the 'super final', it was decided that Kuunkuiskaajat will go to Oslo. They won ahead of Nina Lassander, who finished second and Eläkeläiset, who finished third.
Kuunkuiskaajat (Moonwhispers) are a duo consisting of two ladies who have already been performing together in world music act Värttinä. Their music, which usually features an accordion and a harmonium is described to have influences of gypsy music and Argentinian tango. Kuunkuiskaajat is signed to Magnum Music Oy. You can visit their official website here and their myspace page here.
esctoday.com poll results
The esctoday.com poll voters widely did not agree with the results in the national final. None of the poll top two Amadeus Lundberg (35.2%) and Heli Kajo (25.8%) had made the top three in the national final. Winners Kuunkuiskaajat still finished fourth in the poll with 7.7%. Nina Lassander had come third in the poll with 10.8% and Eläkeläiset had finished euqal ninth in the poll with no more than 2.8%.
esctoday.com national final awards 2010
The 2010 esctoday.com National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year - you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in the Finnish national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.
In 2009, Finland was represented by Waldo's People, who finished 12th in the first semi final but still qualified for the final thanks to the jury wildcard. In the final, the group came 25th and hence last with their song Lose control.

Amazing!!
If only all the countries sent only folk songs :X

terrible...
Not my cup of tee...
@Evagellitsa,
It would be so funny to see, Finland getting a 12 from Greece because they sent a Greek friendly entry... while Greece themselves keep on sending the biggest Americanised crap.... Maybe if Greece would start sending jewels like I Anixi, Olu tu kosmo, to dhiko su asteri, miazume, mu les, ..... once again, I would vote for them again....
I like it! It sounds very greek!
Serkan Please stop spamming here... Dont you realize that its too much annoying??!
I don't think it's horrible, but I do think there were some songs which deserved to win more.
Axel
Eastern Europe minus me maybe!!
I agree with you on that one Mina. Finland deserves a final, only already for the fact that they sent something typical Finnish.... I pressume Eastern Europe will love this aswell... but for me, it's just ok and I won't vote for it.
Out of the 3 songs that made the superfinal, and if we don't take into account the humpa guys (who would definitely not pass the semi), this one is much more 'Finnish' than Cider Hill (that was also a great song and my 3rd favourite).
But isn't the point of the contest that every country should send something that represents them and their culture? I mean even if someone doesn't like this song, they should at least appreciate the fact that it's not some anonymous pop song like (and I will use my own country here so there are no misunderstandings) This is our night, for example.
And anyway I believe that it will be in the final unless most of the other songs in Finland's semi are soooooo good.
Some televoters will love it and some juries will, too. I can definitely see the Greek jury voting for this.
It's a nice little song but it doesn't do me anything and I won't vote for it. Sorry Finland.
No comment! i hope we'll pass the semi final
I do not want to cause a quarrel. Of course, the former Yugoslav countries do not consider here. They vote only to each other. Only Greece and some other countries to vote for us. The voters of this are rare. I do not believe anymore that Finland will reach the final. This song is, of course, voters in all countries, but they are not very many. Greece may be found in a larger group, who likes this. If we do not even see the same semi-finals with a country who vote for this song so hellurei.
It's not a horrible song, certainly, but .., yeah, part of me wonders if this will qualify. Even if it hadn't scored well, I've liked seeing Finland push the envelope and introducing non-Eurovision-ish tunes to the contest, and I've liked seeing that.
This? Yes, it's also not Eurovision-y, but it also feels very dated and "out of touch". I think my grandfather had an old LP that had a song that sounded like this. :: laugh :: I personally don't like it, and in fact right now it's my least favourite selected song in the contest.
But yeah, juries and even televoters can be unpredictable so this could either tank or do inexplicably well. :: laugh ::
I like this song.. At least we'll hear something different from the eurodance songs...
so lovely... good luck!
12 Punkte aus Deutschland
i don't know...it doesn't sounds great
wow this was truly HORRIBLE!!! feels like i´m watching esc from the 70s-80s... this will not end well for Finland
Mario Mir
Lyrics will be officially translated into English, of course.
But I am sure, that this song will be performed in Finnish language in Oslo.

You insist!lol...some greeks said that they relate to the song because it reminds them of old greek songs...and i said that even though it reminds me of some old greek songs i don't like it and don't relate to it...
My favourite was Osmo Ikonen, and I was disinterested for finish final.
This song sounds very warm, nice two ladies with beautiful smiles... It was the best song out of 10 in final, but I don't see Finland in final!
We will see...
Not bad, at least better than Elakelaishit. My fav was Amadeus, but considering the serious threaten of that joke act, the result is good.
I suppose they're not going to translate this song into English, aren't they?
i'm so sorry, but this song is truly awful
I was checking ESC Today for the Slovakian results and I couldn't help noticing the amount of posts in this thread. These new green boxes (my fav colour) are really a success! Seriously, I am neither Finnish nor Greek and I like this song. It sounds sincere, cheerful and it is well performed. Is it going to win? I do not know nor do I care that much. At least, Finland is sending a real song that is a world apart from last year's horror. Good luck, Finland!
PS: Glad to know that those guys finished 3rd, well behind the first two hopefuls.
@ dimitris calling
Either I misunderstood your post wrong or you put it out there differently then was suppose to.
I just found that comment about "relating to" kind of weird, but it could likely been a misunderstanding aswell.

if you have read the previous comments about how many greek people in this site like the song very much you would understand my words...
As much as I love Värttinä, I'm not sure if this is a good idea of Suomi to send Johanna and Susu to Oslo!
I've been on the YLE News site and this was the poll result:
Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki ellää got 42%
Nina Lassander - Cider Hill got 38%
Eläkeläiset - Hulluna humpasta got 20%
Should have picked Heli Kajo Finland!
Once again Finland sends the wrong song as per ruddy usual!
The only time they sent the right song was in 2006.
I like Työlki ellää though but you have to understand Finnish culture first before you can make an opinion on it!
