Week 9 review
National final season 2010: What happened last week?
Azerbaijan
The semi final of the Azerbaijani selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was held on Tuesday. Six acts presented one song each and the expert jury selected three of them to move forward to the national final on 1st March: Milk & Kisses, Safura Alizadeh and Maryam Shabanova. Still, we have probably not heard the country's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest yet as the national selection is mainly a performer selection and the song of the winning artist is likely to be replaced after the national final.
Germany
Another country kicked off its national selection on Tuesday: Germany. Ten singers performed cover versions of more or less famous songs and five of them were chosen by televoting to compete in the elimination rounds starting on 16th February. They were Lena Meyer-Landrut, Kerstin Freking, Meri Voskanian, Cyril Krueger and Katrin Walter.
Slovakia
Eurosong 2010 continued on Friday with the fifth heat. Another four acts were chosen by SMS voting to go forward to the semi final stage of the selection: Kristina, Smola a hrušky, Robert Mikla and Dáška Kostovčik. The line-up for the two semi finals on 14th and 21st February was completed on Sunday with the sixth and lastquarter final. This time, the lucky ones were Soňa , Miro Jaroš , Aya and Marián Bango.
Norway
After three semi finals and a second chance round, the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 chose its entry for Oslo in Oslo. Eight acts were still in the running and they were reduced to four by televoting alone. Out of the all-male top four, Didrik Solli-Tangen was eventually chosen as Norwegian representative by the jury and the televoters in the second round being the favourite of both. His song is called My heart is yours and it was written by Eurovision veterans Hanne Sørvaag and Fredrik Kempe.
Denmark
Denmark is the only Nordic country with a one-evening national selection this year. The ten songs competed in the national final omn Saturday. In the first round, they were reduced to four by SMS voting and a jury. The remaining songs competed in duels until only one was left: In a moment like this performed by Chanée and Tomas N'evergreen. The song was written by Thomas G:son, a familiar face to the Eurovision Song Contest and various national selections along with Henrik Sethssona and Erik Bernholm.
Sweden
Swedish Melodifestivalen kicked off on Saturday with the first of four semi finals being held. Eight acts competed and two of them were chosen to compete in grand final on 13th March. Salem Al Fakir, winner of the first round of voting, directly qualified for the final and he was joined by Ola Svensson, winner of the second round of voting. Pain of Salvation and Jessica Andersson will get another chance in the second chance round on 6th March.
Iceland
Iceland completed the Nordic Saturday with the final of Söngvakeppni sjónvarpsins being held. Six acts competed and the televoters decided to give Hera Björk the ticket to Oslo with her song Je ne sais quoi, which was written by herself along with Örlygur Smári, who had already written another two Icelandic entries in the competition.
Cyprus
The Cypriot national final was held on Sunday with nine acts competing. The winner was chosen by televoting and a jury and both agreed to send Jon Lilygreen & the Islanders to Oslo with their song Life looks better in spring written by Nasos Lambrianides and Melis Konstantinou.
Netherlands
The Dutch national final was held on Sunday as well. Five acts performed five different versions of the song Ik ben verliefd (Sha la lie) written by Pierre Kartner. Originally, a juryof four people and the audience in the hall were supposed to determine the winner but after a tie in the voting, Pierre Kartner himself was to choose the Dutch entrant. He decided that Sieneke will go to Oslo.

1.Albania 217 points
2.Denmark 201 points
3.Finland 178
4.Norway 170
5.cyprus 112
my top 5 till now
1.Albania-Its just amazing, power voice -see her when she for the first time takes lyric of the song in english and with orchestra she sings the quarter final version of the song http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=cKkoUpq9ij8
2.Denmark- I iam so impressed of this song, they have a great love songs
3.Iceland- its so nice, i like her vouce mostly
4.Norway-he is handsome, has a great voice, the song have to be more worked
5.Cyprus- its intereslly song
@Sara maybe you visit different posts than me thats why you lost me
Anyway...i like Cyprus song and i like also Konstantinos song "Angel" ( from Cyprus NF ) , but i thing the winner song is more close to west countries people music taste and especially to Irish, British and Nordic, so utlist i expect 1 - 2 -3 - 4 points from west countries
This year have one plus for Cyprus, its only 17 countries in each semifinal and is impossible the rest 16 countries in 2 semifinal to have better songs than Cyprus, off course as i say and before my countrey song is not a winning song but for Cyprus its a win if pass to the final, so i focus only on that
Personal i thing this year will win or an ex yugo or ex soviet countrey, i have that feeling
i cant understand why most of the people here like Swiss song
Maybe i habe bad taste of music thats why i dont like it
The mp3 of the song Katerine Avgoustakis will sing in Greek final:

Marky:
Do you know where the sheep is? Strange that he hasn't been around at all during MGP. He is the Nordic sheep so he should've been here giving his support... If you find him, put him in a leash and bring him here

Blackadder:
A good thing the voters dont know him then
@ Sara ❀ Aurora Borealis ☮
Don't worry, I haven't read any Swedish paper because my swedish is attrocious (despite owning a Lena Philipsson record and 1 song from 'Saint' Carola!)
I'm just worried it's gonna bomb because it has Fredrik Kempe's name on it regardless of whether he wrote 1% or 100% of the song!
patte:
ARgh...there was a replay of MF on Sv1 from 23:00 - 00:30...I forgot to watch it
Then I could've heard Salem's song again. Hmmf.
Blackadder:
Just look aside from the fact that Kempe has helped Hanne Sørvaag writing it. In last year semifinal in Skien (close to where he lives), Didrik met up with Hanne Sørvaag and asked her if she could write him a song. Hanne works at Universal in Stockholm so I guess it ws there she met Kempe and asked him for some help. I was a bit surprised when I read the Swedish online newspapers and they gave only Kempe credit for it. Every swedish article it said that he was the composer, no place did they mention Hanne Sørvaag at all.
Anyway..It's not a rip-off of you raise me up just because the composition is similar. The melody isn't the same.
Forgot about Norway!!
Just two complaints about Didrik's song:
1.The fact Kempe co-wrote it is giving me a fear that Norway will bomb!
2.It's a rip-off of "You Raise Me Up"
patte:
It's not that hard sending an email...dooh. You need to choose "enclose files" and choose which files you want to enclose and just write oslonor@hotmail.com in the "send to" part...and then push send. Easy as that! LOL! Or you can ask one of your family memebers for help
The Black Adder's rankings based on his personal taste:
SF1:
Finland
Albania
Iceland
SF2:
Switzerland
Haven't got round to listening to Denmark, Cyprus or Netherlands because I felt like going off Eurovision at the weekend because my preferred choices did not win and I now believe it's a boring two horse race between maNga and Dima (if he's chosen in Russia).
Somebody somewhere in Europe step up and get their finger out!
Lina

@Sara i miss you so much :-* !! How are you !! I like Norge song very much ( and the guy off course ) What do you thing about Repuplic of Cyprus song? same question to you
Hiiiii girlie
I haven't seen you around for a while. Have you been busy?? I'm fine...hope you are too
I actually had A1 as my favorite in the MGP final, but I'm also happy with Didrik. It's funny cause people compare him to Rybak (and says : another Rybak..and that they don't like his appereance a.s.o) but he is the total opposite of Rybak. Didrik doesn't feel very comfortable in front of the cameras at all, like Rybak do. I like the Cypros song. Not what I have expected from Cyprus, but its really nice
I like guys with guitars..hehe (I have a guitar myself and I'm trying to learn). He seems so young..he is cute, and I like his voice
Lina
Don't worry, I'm a changed person
I went to rehab, did you go too !?
Or did you do a Winehouse and say "no no no" ?
@Marky dont worry i keep my argument power with you for later
Beacuse i m sure 1000000000000000% that we are going to argument .LOL
The cypriot song reminds me a bit of Ronan Keating... no?
Lina
I love you !!
Where have you been all this time?
I haven't had a decent arguement in ages !!
Loving the 3G Girls yet !?
patte:
I haven't got anything yet...
@Patte, i like it
ok is not the winning song but Cyprus dont focus to victory ( escecially now with finansial crisis
) , i thing Cyprus song will get votes from west countries beacuse people like that kind of songs there, from eastern countries i dont expect too much beacuse they like more folclore songs and they r neighbours off course
nice songs from norway and denmark but it is still a very below average festival this year...it is a bit alarmingly below average! looking at these great eurovision countries sending such songs to this year's eurovision, i think in Malta we have a good choice! lol! if we send claudia or thea or even pamela....we will do quite bette than we thought!
