esctoday.com national final awards 2010
The 2010 esctoday.com National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year - you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in the Maltese national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.
The winning performance

BTW Kostantinos Koutsikos
...haw dare you criticise Thea because she is a Fulled Figure Lady. She's very pretty, actually she is very cute, she is talendted....listen.... it's not the FAT that makes someone a singer. We came 2nd and 3rd with a fat lady.... and a fat lesbian from serbia (nothing against gays as I'm homo as well) she won the contest !!!!
So what are you on about...trying to make a singe look week because of it's appearance loool.... that shows what a LOW INFERIORITY COMPLEX YOU'VE GOT !!!
amazing ballad!! the best till now in esc with denmark!!
besides Mina X we don't have 12points guaranteed from cyprus every year like you....and ALSO you are so against Malta...but guess what.... every country is WAITING for the 12points from Malta
omg it's tuesday and you are still going on with the bird and lisa minelli !!!
a) she has short red hair, she's not imitating anyone. She's a 17yo with a cool hairstyle !!! SO WHAT !!! does it mean if i have brown hair i'm imitating RUSLANA or SIRUSHO.... NO !!!
b) the seagull....omg !!! come on !!! get over it !! it was used to create an effect..and it did. If we used it in Malta, we WON'T use it again soooo leave the Seagull alone.
c) why is it a BORING ballad ?! I'm sorry to say but at least it is memorable...also we have a good voice....alsoooo there will be some changes to the song to make it and the climax more powerful. There were other ballads that succeeded in the eurovision as well.
d) get over it...if you don't like it...its fine with us, you can't except anyone to like it....BUT don't insult anyone. If we come second....or last.... we'll still be in the semi's in 2011....and so...there will only be one winner, and the eurovision sometimes is unpredictable especially if there are udges.
Thanks
Thea We love YOU and the SONG !
Ballad again????
agree with Joseph Pace
Can ypu please stop crtizes the maltese song and the maltese singer. These are comments of frightness because all of you pretendd that Malta will select a weak song instead the maltese have learned to select the song not the singer and they chose a Strong one. Now shut Up and if you are through fans of eurovision you will support all the singers and not insulting them . What can one critizes in Malta's song these year, she is a good singer & best song till now with norway. Good luck Malta I will be in Oslo supporting you Thea
Its the time to replace Chiara...I think that this is a very good voice and a good song. Go Malta!!!
Maltese entries are becoming too boring these last years with all those soppy ballads. At least, it might look better without that bird! Maybe it stands a chance then
It is a pity Lawrence Gray did not win. He had the best voice and the best song.
I too am disappointed about Lawrence Gray. He placed only 7th!! He certainly deserved to be top 3!! I hope he will take part again next year.
Hmmmmm....strangely a classical ballad comes from Malta....with a sweet overwheighted lady carrying a powerfull voice....isn't it too repetitive? Anyway, at least this song has a decent sound, it's not too bad overall and among the others qualified this year it seems a masterpiece. Not my cup of tea though...
Good luck Malta!
It's a tradition for Malta to send ballads? I don't understand why, but it's like multiplying Chiara and sending her over and over again. They should send something more like...up-tempo, I dunno. Morena was a revelation, too bad it didn't qualify in the final... The song is nothing special, but Thea seems to be sweet, with a nice voice... An yeah, she seems older than 17, and yes, she resembles Liza Minnelli...
Best wishes to Thea. She has a lovely voice and song. I hope she will do well at Eurovision.... I am very disappointed about Lawrence Gray though. I was really hoping he would win. He certainly deserved to place much better!!
oh dear god and another song i don't want to listen to again - boring love - this makes an X Factor winner's song look edgy
One of the best in the bunch of the Maltese Final but still not enough for a top 10 result in May...
Anyway I wish Malta GOOD LUCK :-*
worst esc year after the best one... i hope this trend won't continue in next year..
That bizarre seagull makes me think of The Muppet Show.
Worst ever year for songs?
Another evening's national finals, another crop of frankly AWFUL songs. It boggles the mind to think that from 2006-2009 the quality of songs was increasingly good and now, we have to put up with the kind of tripe being selected all across Europe. Tripe like:
FYR Macedonia: Forgettable dirge which may well induce a coma
Armenia: They might soup the production up, but that won't get rid of the frankly awful and stupid lyrics.
Netherlands: Starts off sounding like some dodgy fairground ride. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it steams straight off the rails. Please tell me that is NOT an accordion I can hear.
Denmark: Regarded by many people as the 'highlight' of songs selected so far. Well, it's a sad statement on the quality of the songs when the highlight sounds like something dead dragged out of the late eighties and resuscitated without success.
Iceland: Formulaic and completely unexciting.
Malta: Paint me any old ballad by numbers. No, don't go to any special effort. Don't bother doing anything a) interesting b) memorable c) worth listening to.
And if all this weren't enough to scare you, be afraid, very afraid of what is going to be chosen in Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria (mediocrity personified) and Ukraine.
At this rate, I won't be watching in May.

I also think it will be difficult for Malta to qualify, but it depends how other songs in that semi will be! Year is not very good, so maybe they can qualify, we'll see!
I think that i like it. Good luck Malta
It's Liza Minelli and Big Bird for Malta 2010 !!
@ws
oh I wouldn't be so pessemistic with my bet, however maybe 99 euros or so that Malta won't make it to the final..
But when the lyrics talk about a seagull and you see a seagull (ok, a seagull-like creature
), it's not metaphorical at all. It's literal.
lol
So it isn't the stork who brings little babies.
Mina, I don't know if you've seen it yet, but the answer is on the other Maltese article.
No way, Paul. On the other hand I think I would bet, let's say, 100 euros that Malta will finish last in it's semi.
