Six acts to compete

UK final to be held on March 12th

Today, the BBC has announced more details on the live broadcast of Your country needs you, the UK Eurovision selection for 2010.

The UK final shall take place on Friday 12th March and will be broadcast between 20:30 and 22:00 on BBC One. This partly denies the information that had been released by Alexander Rybak, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 with Fairytale, which says he is performing at the UK Final at 19:00 on Friday 12th March. This will be the first time since 2003, when Jemini represented the UK and scored 0 points, that the UK Final has not been held on a Saturday night.

The BBC has also confirmed in this statement, made via the BBC Eurovision Twitter account, that there will be 6 acts in the UK final. However, no news on who these 6 acts are has yet been made.

The United Kingdom, as part of the Big 4, will automatically be in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest Final, on May 29th.

Stock & Waterman have written the U.K song this year 2/3 of the original PWL team Stock.Aitken.Waterman. So we have the creme de la creme of pop music producers working for us. Could be a ballad as Mike Stock has written some amazing slow songs as well as the uptempo pop. Can't wait to hear what they come up with....

Oh gosh! pleaaase not Jedward or Same Difference! no more bad cheesy (in a bad way) annoying duets! Denmark is sending one and that's enough! at least send a good artist with a decent song!

Maybe Sir Waterman brings all his eighties artists back to compete against each others... Jason Donovan, Donna Summer, Bananarama, Sonia, Sinitta, Kylie,..... I wouldn't mind those two Bananarama girls in Oslo.....

oh bring back Hazel Dean if we're going to go all 80s. It's such a diverse cultural audience these days, who can tell what will work from one year to the next. I'd rather live and die by something British in this though, so no Jedward (amongst other reasons). They should tighten the rules on nationality of writers/performers anyway. Anyway, just don't want something for UK which makes me cringe. x

I don't really understand the problem with x factor rejects :S

have we forgotten Jessica Garlick (our best place last decade) came 9th in Pop Idol? :S

Alex, Where did you find that information? :)

Well , I strongly believe that Jedward are GOOD really GOOD at what they are doing. Performing some song with some great stage appereance and choreography. Altho in my previously post I was joking with that , I do believe they are great at what they're doing!

They wouldn't have reached #1 in Ireland , #2 in the UK and #9 in Europe if they werent good enough for it..

Anyway , I just realised that "Same difference" may be one of the participants :O
W O W
They would be GREAT for the ESC!!! I have their album and most of it is catchy and fun! A song like "We Are One" would be a song with potential for a big win this year in Oslo !!

Well said Sabi Love! People complained and bitched terribly about Jade yet she took the UK back to Her former Eurovision glory.

its amazing how most people here literally destroyed jade and the british song................. until it got its 5th place!!! some people change their mind rather quickly

I find Alexander Burke very annoying she has only been on the scene five minutes and already she is acting like a world-diva. Infact she was behaving like a Diva before she even won the contest. She is just a media-inflated replicated talent!

No disrespect to her fans but this is what I think.

Leona Lewis is what you call a singer ;) Someone with her talent and stage-essence should represent the UK this year in my opinion :)

Axel

You are quite right, 'singers' isn't an appropriate word for them, I can think of many but I better not write them ;)

Axel Kearns [47152]
Thu 25 Feb 2010 10:54:46

Daniel,

you call them singers.... I wouldn't even go that far... they are just 2 miserable attention seekers. God I can not stand them. Or any of that X-factor bunch.... they do an audition on tv and take themselves for worldstars.

If the UK were going to go back to selecting appalling acts like Jedward, I would want the UK to withdraw altogether. I'm expecting something much better than that, I cannot believe such experienced songwriters would be willing to write a song for such hopeless singers as Jedward.

it would be ironic if sonia AND niamh kavanagh made a return to esc in the same year. loved them both in 93

Jedward suck, Dollie Mix are AWFUL, Kelly Pepper :S Gosh, I hope these names are NOT for real or UK will suck bad again (for me at least). :(

Dollie Mix are hyping themselves up on MySpace "Dollie Mix for Eurovision 2010". :S :S :S

I wish BBC would/could choose internally, something different for once, a BAND or another genre because this flop-pop is just awful.

I guess Same Difference would be less torture than the other names mentioned... :S It would still remind me of Scooch though.

And I disagree that UK need another female singer, I think it depends on the song more and who happen to suit it better. Last year it was just too obvious that the type of song suited Jade better than a twin duo and a male.

Please NO Jedward or other 1 day wannabe's... give us some good artists that know how to sell their stuff.....

Jedward's all Eurovision needs :P
They could win this! Seriously!
Last year , Rybak presented a circus on stage , and he won. Jedward are a circus themselves , so they could win this easily , as well ;)

Sounds preety logical. LOL.
