Tonight: National final in Russia

The Russian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 will be held tonight. 25 acts will compete in Evrovidenie-2010 and the winner will become the 14th Russian representative in the competition.

The show

The show to be broadcast on RTR1 will start at 19:00 CET (21:00 local time). 25 acts will present one song each and the winner will be chosen by a jury (50%) and televoting (50%).  Like last year, it has been reported that some of the songs in the running would not be eligible to enter the Eurovision Song Contest as they were published before 1st October. Marko Pervan:

Yes, they will surprise us - after announcing of the winner will be done simsalabim - Dima Bilan will fall down from sky on the stage, he will sing White nights and they will do a proclamation that he is a final winner:-)

But seriously - I believe Russia will choose a good song.

ESCkaz reports

06.03 - A dress rehearsal of the show is completed, it involved 25 acts, however, the performance of Dima Bilan will certainly take place in the show. Press-service of channel Russia stresses that he will appear only as a guest of the show. Which song will Bilan perform is unclear from the rehearsal, as he does not participate in it.

@ Ben Gray

"Mamo" was SIMPLY AMAZING!

Totally underrated.

I think with so many entries it is almost safe to say it is set-up already... BUT I still hope that it's not and that the best song eventually wins...

Russia is one of my favorite ESC countries so i'm always curious about their entries...

But it is "said" that Alexander Panaiotov is "already" the winner... I hope not since there are better entries for sure.

I hope for Elena Esenina! We need more folk-inspired stuff in ESC!

GOO ELENA!

Not missing this guys :) Russia has a HUGE potential to win from the quality of the song :D Such a modern selection :D I ADORE IT :D

If we take top 10 of each year of the decade 2000-2009 - Russia is the most successful country of the last 10 years (2.Greece, 3.Turkey).
So expactations are high...
I remember how we hated Russian music in 80´s in our country (at communist era) - now I have to have a respect to your success and big improvement.
Good luck Russia!

Too many songs, Russia...

Here's hoping this one is good enough to make it past the iron curtain. Believe had the wrong singer, Mamo was just horrible, (I still can't understand WHY it had to end like some 80's metal anthem!) but Serebro were good! I would like a Serebro kind of song sung in Russian with maybe a few more ethnic elements to it... or perhaps something electronic, dark, dance-like?
