Ukraine: 20 Finalists previewed

Ukrainian broadcaster NTU moved on with the second stage of the selection as short clips of the songs in the final are being previewed on several broadcasters.

Yesterday NTU shortlisted the 67 submitted songs to 20 that will compete in the national final scheduled for tomorrow. Follow the link here  to view the 20 second preview clips of each song.

Ukraine which originally already picked the artist and song decided to hold another selection. Vasyl Lazarovich who was internally selected to represent the country is also in the competition with the same song he won in the previous selection held last month. In the auditions held yesterday he performed the song I Love you in the native language.

Tonight at 22:00 CET “Shuster Live" (TRK Ukraine) will broadcast all 20 songs in full.  Tomorrow during a gala concert which will be broadcast live on Ukrainian television broadcaster NTU at 19:00 CET, a national final will be held, where tele-voting alone will determine the winner.

The country will select just on time before handing their entry in the Head of delegations meeting to be held early next week in Oslo. Ukraine will compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest to be held on 27th May 2010.

I feel bad for him buit God that song is awful so well done Ukraine - just don't send him again!

Don't understand how the change came about though - Ani Lorak was selected internally but that wasn't a big deal so why now? to be honest tho he ain't no Ani Lorak!

Vasyl SUCKS!
I hated him when he represented Ukraine
and
I hate him now that he has got the boot..

Give over. Even "Malo" is better than "I love you" :P

Shevek
But do you know that how Vasyl Lazarovich was chosen!
If you support old Ukrainian regime, that's not reason to support their biased choice while nobody in Ukraine did! I was with Lazarovich till now, but now I realized some things and situation is not easy at all! And isn't it a bit strange that Lazarovich accepted to participate again, nobody in that situation will accept!! :S
Ukraine should exclude politics of ESC, no matter which regime we are talking about! :(

@ lucio f

The "ridiculous" ones are way more fun than Vasyl's boring ballad... ESC doesn't need more boring ballads and stuff...

Ukraine can actually wake some people up this year!

So go #17 (Nataliya) :) !!

Only Lazarovich sounds professional to me, so they'd better go back to thir old decision, some acts are really ridicolous (5, 9, 11, 13, 16, 17, 19) and somehow I wish one of the ridicolous ones to win...I'd be fun

@ Shevek Urras

Let the best entry win and let the Ukrainian decide. Atleast now if he is picked it will be a choice of the people.

I would not pick him though since I don't think his song is the best, and I would rather want a better entry for ESC :)

New in Town, it is a messy situation and the least bad way to get out of it would be to vote Lazarovich tomorrow. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Other people will think differently.

@ Shevek Urras

Actually 3 channels are responsible for this new selection. And in the end of the day EBU is to blame for allowing countries to change their entries like this. Btw I didn't say you blame the whole country, it wasn't necessarily directed at you. But alot of people say "oh shame on Ukraine, will not vote for Ukraine, Ukraine is cheating" and stuff like that.. which is pretty unfair, especially since it's not as simple as that. Whoever wins now is not responsible either, so it's harsh to punish that person for this aswell.

@ dimitris calling

There was negative reactions back then, but you have to speak with the Ukrainians to really found out since it's all pretty intern and nothing that would be announced here as news or anything like that.

2,12 or 14.
the rest is so bad...

KNOW what internal selections mean, but I kind of get the point that if it is not a legitimate choice with the people, then it's not very good. In some countries people do not care that much, but in Ukraine people care alot so if the people didn't support it, I mean afterall he will represent them right? Atleast he should have some support.

The song was chosen on March 6.I didn't read about any reactions or public rally against the song or the procedure...Plus,Vasyl was internally selected on December 29 2009!I didn't hear about any public reactions back then..It was only after the new government decided to hold a new national final that these allegations emerged...Weird ha?

I am criticizing NTU not the country, New in Town.

@ dimitris calling

I KNOW what internal selections mean, but I kind of get the point that if it is not a legitimate choice with the people, then it's not very good. In some countries people do not care that much, but in Ukraine people care alot so if the people didn't support it, I mean afterall he will represent them right? Atleast he should have some support.

I don't know about his relations to the broadcaster, other than he had connections there, well this is basically what every Ukrainian that I've talked to said and it seems no lie, because Vasyl could have just said it's not true right? He didn't...

@ Chica Bonita

Alot of people does now... saying that "ooh poor Vasyl, you should win because of this blah blah". I'm just saying he is not so poor lol.

@ Shevek Urras

Well as far as I'm concerned they actually did speak against the choice, but the channel ignored it. I don't blame Vasyl, but on the other hand Ukraine is not to blame either because in the end of the day it is EBU who is accepting the change of entry when they could have just said "NO, you have to send the one you have chosen"... so it's kind of sad when everyone is going on a which hunt against Ukraine, when in fact it is EBU that accepted it.

Shevek Urras [60988]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:32:26

New in Town, if that was indeed the case, then the Ukrainians should take it up with NTU. Lazarovich is not to blame, this is a question of due process. I know that this is just a song contest, but what the heck, rules are still rules.

Chica Bonita [57631]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:30:02

Who told you he was poor. This is the funniest thing I've ever heard.I just don't like the way he was chosen and the willingness of Ukranian broadcaster to pick a new song in a hurry.I have nothing against Vasly!

dimitris calling [57630]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:29:37

That's the meaning of internal selection...The broadcaster picks the singer!I'm surprised that chica bonita from Spain knows that Vasyl and the NTU former executive were best friends...lol...I just stick to facts and what can be proved...These allegations were not confirmed...How come they have "dirty" Vasyl in the final after all?

New in Town [60047]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:26:50

@ Chica Bonita

Actually it's the opposite, most people here seem to not get it... they think that Vasyl is some poor guy who was internally picked with public support and stuff... well for sure he is not.

New in Town [60047]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:24:54

@ Shevek Urras

The Ukrainian never chose him, and when he was chosen there was no public support what so ever and this was way before even the songs were known... so why would they support him now?

Aren't the Ukrainian suppose to atleast have a little say in their countries entry, afterall it's going to represent them.

When Ani & Ruslana were chosen internally they also had big public support because they were known and popular names...

Chica Bonita [57631]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:23:04

It is NOT the internal selection. There is nothing wrong with internal selection,EBU allows it.But if your best friend picks you as a representative of the whole country, this is wrong! This is why people are mad... but only one person here has difficulty to get it :D

New in Town [60047]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:22:43

@ dimitris calling

Rumors? Actually they are not. Vasyl was (well now he is not) unknown in Ukraine, the internal selection had no public support from the start and it was confirmed he had connections... if you don't want to believe it it's up to you.. I think Ukrainians know better than you who is known there or not and if he had any support.. I can confirm he had almost no support from the start and that is NOT a rumor... but yeah ... he is soo pooor booo hooo

It's maybe freaky and trashy for you but maybe not for everyone.. when it comes to taste you can only speak for yourself and not others

Shevek Urras [60988]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:22:07

New in Town, I still do not like 'I love you'. However its singer was the winner under a set of rules adopted by the previous management team. Here lies the issue. In comes a new board and they decide to start everything from scratch forgetting all about the commitment to Lazarovich. That's just shameful. If I were Ukrainian I would vote for 'I love you' without hesitation.

dimitris calling [57630]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:18:37

Why, because he was internally selected because of contacts in the broadcaster

@New in town
Please stop these silly unfounded rumours...Noone really liked what happened in Ukraine.Have a national final and then annul it etc...Plus,none of the songs really stands out. Most of them are cheap, freak entries...That's why most of the people support Vasyl now...Let's wait for the final tomorrow...

Chica Bonita [57631]
Fri 19 Mar 2010 21:05:17

None of them is good. They will have to send Vasly again LMAO

New in Town [60047]

@ Kevin Knight VIII

Why, because he was internally selected because of contacts in the broadcaster? He never had public support from the start since most Ukrainians didn't even know who the guy was. I mean it's the people the artist will represent also, not only their friends.

as much as i hated the song, i do feel really sorry for him :(
