Song submission deadline

Eurovision 2010: Delegation heads gather in Oslo

Last night, representatives from all 39 participating countries gathered in Oslo, Norway, for the annual Heads of Delegation meeting in the run up to to Eurovision Song Contest 2010. This meeting is an important milestone as it marks the official deadline for each participating country to submit their song.

The two day event will cover alot of issues for this year's contest, the draw, the prepartions progress, the rehearsals schedule, stage, etc.

Jon Ola Sand, Executive Producer of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest at NRK, welcomed the delegation heads to Oslo and introduced them to their delegation hosts during a welcome drink at the Radisson Blu Oslo Plaza, earlier last night.

This morning, the delegation heads will officially hand in their entries for the 55th Eurovision Song Contest to the European Broadcasting Union. In the afternoon, Host Broadcaster NRK will announce the details for the forth coming show in May. At 17:00 CET, the delegation heads will head for the Telenor Arena, the venue where it will all take place.

On Tuesday, the delegation heads will be informed by the EBU about various generic activities, such as communications, pr, new media, merchandise, televoting, and various other subjects. For the first time ever, a Heads of Press meeting will take place to specifically inform them about press related topics. For this premiere, Heads of Press from twelve participating broadcasters came to Oslo.

Change of schedule: At 15:00 CET (and not at 13:30 as announced earlier) on Tuesday, the draw for the running order of the Semi-Finals and Final of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will take place at EuroClub venue. The draw will be broadcast live online. The event is expected to take approximately one hour. You can follow it here on esctoday.com tomorrow!

last year the last weekend before the deadline Sweden and Czech Rep. where the last countries to choose, so no one break the rule, maybe France showed in the meeting the long version of the song, but they had already presented it like a month before

This meeting is an important milestone as it marks the official deadline for each participating country to submit their song.

Not always, France last year vioated this rule while Spain and Azerbaijan did smth more ugly. Also Ukraine as it seems will chose its final entry later than this meeting.

So finally big4 members and geostrategically useful to Europe countries have a kind of ''immunity'' to ES rules???

I must say I'm impressed with Esctoday if they've travelled to Oslo just to cover this HoD meeting for us. Gavin Murray doesn't exactly sound like a Norwegian name. But this is an exciting time especially now with Ukraine in dire straits, so it will be interesting to know what goes on there. So thanks guys and girls, keep up the good work! :D

Good luck to NRK this year, it will be really tough to clear Moscow's bar which set high last year!
Let's hope to have an unforgetable contest, things are so unpredictable this year! :)
