Ireland: Songs to be presented on Feb 9th
A total number of five acts will compete for the Irish ticket to Baku. A national final will be held on February 24th during The Late Late Show on RTE One. The winner will be selected through a combination of tele voting and national jury and will represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
The competing songs will be presented on February 9th during the Mooney show aired by the RTE radio stations. All songs will be promoted before the national final takes place in Dublin. Jedward and Donna McCaul already confirmed their participation in the Irish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
Yesterday it was decided that Ireland will perform in the second half of the first semifinal of this year's contest.

Everyone hated jedward last year and didn't want them to go to eurovision but they finished 8th. And now your here moaning about them again saying they are going to fail even before you heard the song. With scandinavia, the baltic countries, uk, spain, austria and a few others Ireland will do very well again this year if jedward are sent. Face facts.
Everything depends on the song not the singer. I don't like jedward at all sry.
When I see the efforts some countriesn (such as Iceland) go to select their ESC entry - it embarrasses me that RTE take such a poor attitude, presenting the songs on a Thursday afternoon radio talk show and choosing the entry on a Friday evening talk show which should have been put to sleep decades ago, RTE do we not at least deserve a proper national final?
I don't like the way Ireland and UK treat Eurovision so poorly deliberately by sending camp and corny stuff and presenting them in a talk show.... and even worse if they're going to have nonsense people there to talk about the songs and say how great they are and how well they fit into the ESC universe when they suck and are outdated even for Eurovision. Kinda like last year. The Irish NF could do with a revamp and have its own show instead of being the subject in another. No wonder the twins won when they're the only thing "contemporary" (in a bad way) they got in the NF and they will win again.
It would take someone way too obnoxious and untalented to beat Jedward and that's almost impossible! But as we say in Greece, hope is the last one to die!
I don't know the rest of the participants but there is one thing I am pretty sure about : It will take something and someone way too good to stop Jedward from getting the ticket for Baku..Honestly I think there couldn't be a better choice for Ireland right now..These guys bring a breath of freshness when it comes to the pop music scene in esc and brought Ireland it's best result in a decade, something well - deserved. If they say loyal to their alternative pop style they can definately grab a better result (and why not the trophy) for Ireland. Only the fact that they cause so much controversy is a factor that raises their artistic value imo.
I cant stand the twins...ughh..If they send them i soo hope they are going to fail xD
I'm very glad Ireland is in our semi. I'm hoping to vote for Jedward :-)
No dear, we're not forgetting their result, just trying to forget how irritating they are.
JEDWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't quite understand how popular those "twats" "daft twins" are.... Ireland would be BEST sending them. They gave Ireland their best result in 11 bloody years and people are forgetting that. Lipstick was one of the popular songs last year and since then they have fans in Sweden, Russia, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Estonia and Germany. Stop being mean - you haven't heard the song yet OR the songs they are in competition with.
Well that means there are only 3 possiblities for something decent, as I don't rate Donna or those daft twins. Knowing what Irish nfs tend to be like, I'm not very hopeful. The daft twins will probably win whatever else there is anyway.
i hate jedward pls ireland dont choose them
IRELAND YOU MUST DO THE RIGHT THING, DON'T SEND THOSE TWO TWAT'S TO BAKU, IT WILL ONLY END IN DISSAPOINTMENT,
JEDWARD FAN here... Love them - have to win. Can't wait to hear it.
Jedward to Baku for sure..........
I already know that I wanna Jedward with a song produced by RedOne to represent Ireland!
