And for those who don't know the european geographics.
Europe ends in russia at the ural mountains, and after the Caucasus mountains. So Azerbaijan,Georgia and Armenia are within Europe. So they have a full right to enter the ESC. GO AZERBAIJAN!! Hope to see you there next year!!
OH what a shame!
Maybe Atlanta Georgia can subscribe instead coz as far as am concerned none of them is in Europe.
GEORGIA was interested in entering the ESC to be held in Athens, in 2006, but they announced having money problems. It would have been their first time in the song contest. Too bad!
At least, ARMENIA will be welcomed at the Athens 2006 ESC -- also their first time (I think!).
AUSTRIA (!!!!) withdrew earlier this summer,
the CZECH REPUBLIC (!!!!) recently pulled out from the ESC ... Won't you reconsider?
What's going on? Honestly, your songwriters and performers would have come up with great songs to represent your countries and they are not even going to be given a chance! You must participate in this major European event!
... et ITALIA RITORNO, per favore!!!!
i want italy back
WE WANT ITALY BACK!!!!! georgia?? Would b cool..but it is ok..
I want to se Italy back! And with
a marvellous song like Lara Fabians " Adagio" :'

NK,
I agree! I mean, I thought one needed about 2 to 5 million to participate! I never thought of 500.000! There are indeed many rich Armenians outside Armenia, like Aznavour, and Kirk Kerkorian (investor). But, we'll see!
@ NK
You didn't read my previous post very well:
@ N K
@ Matteo
Gotcha!!!
How much pal??
@ N K.
My sources are very reliable, you don't know me
..... so let's bet some money about it and prepare to pay as "you are so sure about Italy IN 2006".
Getting a little political i would love Russia to hold the contest someday , Russia is and should be a very important part of Europe and the ESC .
regardless lets hope that when Russia do win it will be with a good song .
I cant say im that botherd Georgia wont be there next year as i do not agree with the fact that some countries can pay less just to enter the thing in the 1st place
london calling, maybe yes, but as far as I know, Russia never won... would you mind if oneday ESC will be held in Moskva or St Petersbourg ?
well I'm sure Russia can't wait for yet more exUSSR republics like Armenia and Georgia to enter ESC.
After all the Russians do so well with points from the Baltics, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova etc.
Tatu would've got the extra 4 points they needed to win in Riga if only one more exSoviet republic was voting then.
It kind of makes the voting hard to swallow when there are millions of Russians living and voting in all those neighbouring countries.
@ Matteo Aldrovandi
In RAI's website on Friday 30 September [5 days ago...] in the TV section was a statement of a lady [don't remember her name] supporting that there is almost sure that they will come back at least in Athens. So your sources are not so good, I'll search in the website and I'll provide you the URL to see it yourself!!!
Very bad news...
For Armenia now it's a matter of honour to participate and I believe that they can find the ammount to pay there are many rich Armenians outside the country so they can affort it...
I do not agree with most of you & I cannot understand your reactions... Let me tell you sth people. IF an entry is good [really good] it will find it's good ranking. Who expected Denmark this year for example? Or Latvia? The western countries must stop this fear they have of not been voted by the eastern ones or the balkan/mediterranean ones because they give almost the whole of their votes to these countries too! The Dutch votes for example were given to the Balkan/Mediterranean countries in 84% [49 of the total 58 points] & 16% to the Scandinavian ones [9, 8in Denmark, 1 in Norway]. Am I wrong Gert??
OK I admit especially for The Netherlands this year was a major grievance! But tell me, what is purely fair these days?? So either we accept the contest as it is or stay home like Austria who expected that Europeans would be proud and vote for awfull & idiotic songs like 'Yasi's".Phew! People are really strange...
@ HAYQ NAHAPET
You should ask yourself the following question:
What's better: Having Luxembourg entering the contest again with a lower fee, or letting Georgia enter the contest for free..........
Remember, the EBU already lost Austria for 2006. It seems that everybody forgets that.
One last major thing: The current format with almost 40 participants has one GREAT major flaw. No matter what it costs.................50% of these countries will have a major setback in not entering the finals. The chance of ending in the top 10 is damn low nowadays. Every year, there's a larger number of disappointed broadcasters, and this will not stop. Back in 1997, it was different. Countries accepted their failure.
more countries would be such a DRAG.. they should make it to 40 and keep it at that, never any more, never any less, i think italy and czech republic should join to make it 40.. and then they should cut out the god awful 40-odd-countries-voting-final thing and just have the final countries vote in the final
Ding Dinge Dong was good
yay netherlands XD
Gert,
Don't get me wrong, I'm not protecting Georgia or something, but don't you think it's much better for Holland to sit down and just watch the contest? All your songs are really pitiful!
Hope they come in soon - the more countries participating, the better I think. Plus, it's a new area the contest will reach out to, there aren't any countries east of Turkey (excluding Russia) who participate, so that is also good. Good luck to them!
Very good news indeed!! But Georgia, it's also nice to watch the contest
. Your time will come..........it will come
Ivona, Matteo, and others, who made comments like : Fantastic news! Hoping the same for Armenia!
What are you afraid of actually? You shoule be proud for having countries like Armenia and Georgia in the contest! Or are you just jealous?
And I'm not sure whether: If Georgia can't afford it, Armenia can't either! I'm not saying we are richer or poorer, but I don''t think it's right to say it that way!
