'I am kind of ashamed'
Vaiko Eplik: no 'commercial' music anymore
Vaiko appeared in Estonian TV at the age of eight for the first time. His first CD had already appeared when he was 18 before his britpop band Claire's birthday bacame the most succesful one in Estonia. Now he likes to be independant so that he is able to make 'real' songs beyond the mainstream. According to him, music must no be under any commercial influence - even if Mozart's Requiem has also been commissioned.
Estonia finished 21st in Riga with the song Eighties coming back. Trivia: Estonia suffered from the curse of last year's host. After they finished in the top 10 in six out of seven occasions from 1996 - 2002 (including a victory in 2001 and hosting the contest in 2002), it was the first entry that did quite poor. All songs after the 2003 entry would not even qualify for the final round. Worth noting: Eighties coming back was the first entry that was chosen along with public televoting.

amazing
i think he's my new hero
estonia 03 already just jumped as 10th of my 03 rank before i heard this news
but this is great!
I'm sorry but I can't agree with the most people here: imo 'Eighties coming back' is the second worst Estonian entry next to 'Tii' in Eurovision 2004 and one of the 5 worst entries in Eurovision 2003!
@ Scott Earp
I agree with you Scott about Vaiko's attitude! This will be indeed a big disappointment to his fans, because actually he is lying against them! Shame on him!
"Worth noting: Eighties coming back was the first entry that was chosen along with public televoting."
WRONG!!!!
Eighties Coming back was not the first entry that was chosen along with public televoting!!!
Public favourite was Vanilla Ninja with song "Club Kung-Fu". Internation jury placed it last.
The song was chosen by International Jury. !!
I really liked it back in 2003. Such a shame this good quality tune ended so low in the final ranking...
I really liked Ruffus... their song was better than the number of points it received
As an artist it is a shame that he is ashamed of his earlier material. He believed in it at the time and this will dissapoint hos fans
Perhaps with this attitude its best he keeps his radio job!
I would like to Koit come back to ESC. Good luck Koit in Eurolaul
I voted for Ruffus back in 2003.. but no points for Estonia came.
the best estonian entry ever by a mile
