Lyricist to 7 Eurovision songs

Pierre Delanoë (88) died

The famous French lyricist Pierre Delanoë died last night of a cardiac arrest. French press agency AFP reported this.

Delanoë, born as Pierre Leroyer on 16th December 1918, was a very well known lyricist. He wrote songs for famous (mostly French) singers like Gilbert Bécaud, Édith Piaf, Tino Rossi, Hugues Aufray, Michel Fugain, Nicoletta, Nana Mouskouri, Michel Polnareff, Gérard Lenorman, Joe Dassin, Nicole Rieu and Michel Sardou.

Delanoë wrote lyrics to no less than 7 songs in the Eurovision history. He won the contest on his first attempt and participated for 4 different countries. Delanoë wrote the lyrics for:
  • France 1958 - Dors mon amour by André Claveau
  • Monaco 1961 - Allons, allons les enfants by Colette Deréal
  • Luxembourg 1963  - A force de prier by Nana Mouskouri
  • France 1967 - Il doit faire beau là-bas by Noëlle Cordier
  • Switzerland 1973 - Je vais me marier, Marie by Patrick Juvet
  • France 1975 - Et bonjour à toi l'artiste by Nicole Rieu
  • Luxembourg 1980 - Papa pingouin by Sophie & Magaly
