Lordi and Lovex conquer the foreign charts

Finnish Eurovision acts charting abroad

Lovex, one of the hopefuls in the Euroviisut 2007, the Finnish national final, is charting in the German singles chart this week with Guardian angel while Lordi’s Arockalypse - the album that includes their 2006 Eurovision Song Contest winning song Hard rock hallelujah - is released in Japan and hits the charts in its day of release!

Lovex released their Guardian angel single in Germany January 5 and it entered the charts at number 22. The single was also released in Austria and Switzerland. The band is at the moment in Germany recording new material. Their album Divine insanity will be released in Germany on 16th February with two added bonus tracks: Anyone anymore from the Finnish Euroviisut, and Shout.

Meanwhile in Japan Lordi’s The Arockalypse album was released today. It entered the daily charts at number 24! The album is a special Japanese release and includes the new Would you love a monster man video. The Arockalypse special edition CD will be released in the USA and Canada on 20th March. It has as a bonus track called EviLove.

In Finland The Arockalypse has sold over 90,000 copies or triple platinum. It was the most sold album in 2006, and still stays in the Top 40 at number 18 going up once again from last weeks number 20. It has been in Top-40 already 48 weeks.

But what about other esc songs? Which of them has done better than Lordi? My point was that if Lordi doesn`t have a change, it means quite sad situation for other songs, which have done so much worse than Lordi. Lordi has gained success all over Europe if you compare it to normal esc songs, and most of the previous winners. Like it or not.

All over Europe ??? the Nordic countries, Flanders, the German-speaking but English-singing countries and one or two other minors countries in Europe is NOT all over Europe.

Don`t have chance?

I think they had a very good chance, and according to their success that is not all they have. If a band that has hit the charts all over europe and now in Japan doesn`t have a chance, then what about all the other resent esc songs that haven`t had even the slightest bit of Lordi`s success..

Unfortunatelu Lordi is in fact one of the most modern things in ESC in years. Hopefully that will change in 2007.

Lovex will be the best choice for Finland.

maybe their growing popularity in germany, autria and switzerland will give them many points if they qualify
