Eurovision can change your life!
Mihai Traistariu's success story
The way to success for Mihai started when he was signed by Roton, the largest Romanian record label, who represents many other Romanian stars such as Morandi, Akcent, Cream, Holograf, Mandinga among others.
His 2006 entry Tornero was played by 1600 radio stations worldwide with Greece holding the record with 160 stations, followed closely by Sweden with 120 stations. Tornero was also aired extensively in China, Peru, Libya, Melbourne (Australia) and Los Angeles (USA). Just six months after the contest, Tornero counted 1.400.000 downloads through national and international sites. After this kind of success the song entered the international tops immediately, at nr.186 in Global chart, nr.43 in top 100 international, nr 188 in top radio international.
Mihai has also signed with twelve more record companies in Europe where his future releases will be promoted. Specifically, he has signed contracts in Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Moldova, Romania.
2006 was an extremely busy year for Mihai. He somehow managed to give 300 concerts in 16 countries (sometimes performing in 2 or 3 different places in one day) attracting large audiences. His concert in Sweden holds the record here with 25.000 people, followed by Greece, Malta and Cyprus. On New Year's Eve, Mihai managed to made six appearances in six different venues! He released two albums in one year, Tornero and one with Romanian Christmas songs and appeared in 150 TV shows. All that has made Mihai richer by an estimated 2.5 million euros.
On the 13th of March Mihai Traistariu was awarded the "Artist of the year 2006" and "The best interpretation 2006" awards.
Mihai will be releasing his new album - which will contain Dimmi si o no and Ave Maria- in late May, early June this year and he is already scheduled to visit many European countries. His announced schedule so far is as follows:

@Amancio M. If you take the repertoire of a particular singer you will for sure find many similarities between his/her songs because it's his/her style ;but you cannot say that they are copyes.
Tornero was good but I did not like his last single. was copy of tornero
I loved Romania last year but not this year.
So far I have Malta as my top choice. I hear it is one of the top contenders this year. this is what they said on tv. Good luck
this is a good example that the contest is a tv show contest and not song contest anymore.
Tornero was the greatest success last year in greece and used to make people mad in clubs.
But romania received only 7 points from greece
Lordi received 12 points but their song wasnt even a little bit succesfull in greece.

Having quickly glanced over the prediction of the final below, I think it's possibly fairly accurate, with minor changes. I personally expect Bosnia Herzegovina and in particular Turkey to do far better than predicted, swapping places with other slightly optimistically ranked entries (and arguably rightly so).
There could be a totally different image at the end though...there isn't a clear favourite, altough Sweden would love to think it is. Too many dark horses this year.

Olivia Lewis participated successfully in the famous Romanian festival Golden Stag and obtained a 3rd placing for Malta with hit single Déjà vu. Deja Vu was the single that in 2005 - placed 2nd - few votes away from Chiara's Angel ! Deja Vu was written by the same team behind vertigo this year - and behind our 2000,2002 (ira losco 2nd place) and 2004 entries !

@Edin , you are right about our chances of winning this contest because of the neighbour voting which we lack.And yes , "Time"was special ,I voted for it both in the semifinal and the final but unfortunately you know what happened.I hope for a good placing in Finland for Todomondo because people seem to like them .We live in a strange world

NO SWEDEN AGAIN
Over the past week several online bookmakers have opened their books on the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, and so we can now clarly identify which countries are likely to head to Helsinki with the tag of favourites, and which are considered to be the early outsiders.
Betting exchange Betfair were the first to offers odds on the contest, and this week another betting exchange Betdaq has joined them. These sites tend to offer the best odds, but many people prefer the more established bookmakers, and this week the first three sites have opened their book; leading Irish bookmakers Paddy Power and UK sites Victor Chandler and William Hill. If you want to compare the latest odds for each song at every site you can do so at Oddschecker.
This week it's time to have a look at how both the semi-final on May 10th and the final on May 12th will finish, if the bookmakers (or rather those betting) have it right.

On the left you can see how the scoreboard for the Eurovision semi-final might look on May 10th. If the bookmakers are to be believed there are four countries that are already well ahread of the pack, when it comes to qualifying; Switzerland, Belarus, Bulgaria and Serbia.
Switerland's DJ Bobo (left) is doing well in most online polls, so Switzerland's position is no surprise but the other choices are somewhat surprising. Given that Belarus and Bulgaria have failed at every previous attempt to qualify and that Serbia are Eurovision newcomers as an independent country. Of the newcomers Serbia look to be ahead of both Georgia, the Czech Republic and Montenego with the latter being surprisingly low, given the friendliness of Balkan countries for one another's songs.
The other six qualifying places in the semi-final seem to be up for grabs, although there is a clear gap between Denmark and Turkey (who share 9th and tenth places) and Malta, who are just missing out in 11th.
The publicity generated by their controversial entry "Push The Button" may be helping the Israel entry into the Top 10 but there are some surprises in the curreent rankings with FYR Macedonia and Croatia who have qualified from every previous semi final, lagging behind Andorra who have finished in the bottom five on all previous attempts.
Many countries which are Eurovision veterens may be missing out, if the bookmakers are right, with Norway, Belgium, Austria, Portugal and perhaps most surprsingly Netherlands all likely to be eliminated in the semi-final. However, one thing that should be remembered is that in previous years the bookmakers have only tended to get around six or seven of the qualifiers correct, and songs that were seen as favourites for qualification, like Belarus in 2005 and Belgium in 2006, both failed to make it through.

We have a runaway early favourite in the shape of Swedish group, The Ark (left) and their song "The Worrying Kind". Sweden is the clear favourite with all bookmakers and betting exchanges.
Interestingly last year, Greece's Anna Vissi made all the early running, but after her performance in the semi-final, Swedish singer Carola made a late move, and took the favourite's spot going into Saturday's final. Sweden was also the pre-contest favourite in 2002 with disco group Afro-dite and in 2005 with Lena Philipsson. However on none of these occasions did the Swedish entry actually win the contest.
This year's Top favourites is evenly split between automatic finalists, with Russia, Greece, Ukraine and Romania joing Sweden and the Top 5 semi-finalists; Switzerland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Serbia and Cyprus also in the Top 10.
However for seven other automatic finalists, the news is not as good, as they are predicted to fill the bottom slots on the scoreboard on May 12th. If the previous years are anything to go by, this is probably accurate as countries that come through the final seem to have a slight advantage as they have already been judged and given the thumbs up by the televoters.
If the bookermakers are right, we already thow three countries that are competing in the final and that have little or no chance of winning; Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia and Lithuania.
Mihai deseves the success he got from participating in the ESC. He has a great voice that not many people can be proud of.
I never liked "Tornero" really much, but it's nice that singers still can get stars through the ESC.
I also wanted " Time " to win but Todomondo's song insn't bad either , it's just different from what Romania used to send at ESC . "Tell me why " was also an exelent ballad performed by two great singers, but at esc a ballad could hardly win the contest .
I have quite a lot of respect for Romania at ESC, not because their songs are particularly good but because they seem to have found a good formula of late. Both Luminita and Mihai had songs engineered to do well, and they did, regardless of how good they actually may (not) be, collecting votes from across the spectrum. it takes some intelligent planning to do well at ESC. My compliments.
And Romania's this year entry is different, daring and interesting, at least.
