Lordi cancels May 11th concert
Lordi have just left for their tour in Japan and will be back just in time the Eurovision final rehearsals. Some extra time is needed for Eurovision related engagements and the band will not have time for the concert on Friday night. Lordi will go on to the United States right after the final to attend the Bamboozle festival.
The concert in Helsinki Ice hall was scheduled for the night between the semi final and final and Udo Dirkschneider was to perform with them. Other performers were Thunderstorm, the runner up in the Finnish selection this year, and Carmen Gray.
Both Lordi and the organizers apologise to all the fans and the tickets will be fully refunded.

Ahh balls. I was going to go...but wonderful news we'll see them at the ESC!
lol - I agree with Juan. The UK disses the ESC anychance it gets...unless it wins, when of course it means that the UK is the greatest and we get really into it *rolls eyes*
chichi whatchamacaller - can you please respect people's likes? If someone likes Lordi really it's not fair to ridicule them. They ARE heroes in Finland - Mr Lordi has a square named after him and there is a statue of Amen in his home town. (OK I think Amen's a pain but...)Oh and they have a rock cafe as well.
Ahh nooo...Peter Erikkson again...man you are intensely annoying. I'd love to know WHY you HATE Lordi so much. Meet them - they're the nicest people AND they didn't a bad word against any act that they were up against. Unlike some I could mention. Good music, could do with better guitar solos lol, caring people and above all a proper band.
Who said they looked ridiulous? Mr Lordi has the coolest costume - take time to look at it and you'll see the amazing detail he's put it. ALTHOUGH I think they fail at looking scary - Mr Ox looks so other-wordly it's untrue.
*damns America* xD Lordi are becoming obsessed by it. OH and they're doing a full length film as well! Dark Floors! (ignore the title people
)
Nicolas Vertigo, ESC 2006 is closed already and you can't vote against Lordi anymore...
Now I am sure Lordi's victory was needed, ESC needs a little shake up every now and then. I haven't seen any rule how the ESC songs should be, world changes and so does ESC - and everybody is completely free to vote.
Their cancel of the concert is not related with Japan.
They have only 3 concert in Japan, but much more concerts will be in USA from April to May.
They are accepting many offers instantly in USA, so that they couldn't manage their schedule.
What a pity!
To me, it seems that they love USA.
If Lordi are not real rockers...I don´t know WHAT is?
Too bad about that concert, though. Could have been a blast...inbetween the ESC-shows and all. Well, you Eurovision-fans have a beautiful city to spend your time in anyway!
@ christopher Hannaford:
Lordi should have never won this contest last year.they were not even real rockers!! the song was a parody of rock, they looked ridiculous, not even funny and there were great songs among last years top ten which would have all deserved 1000 times more to win.
@chi chi larue:
i have told to all my friends, if Ukraine is going to win this yer, i will never ever watch this contest again...I still think this is a music contest, even a light one and not a carneval party of finding who is the most ridiculous and funny one and then give him/her/them the crown...Because by leting such stupid acts winning we disrespect countries and artist who does give an effort to present something that is musically fine...And about turkey: forget it, that this one wins this year, an oriental cheap copy of Justin Timberlake doesnt need anyone..And he is not even funny....
Well, by serious i think people mean 'national disgrace' if a country doesn't qualify, or sulk and have a gap year in the contest if they are not doing well! I don't think the UK has ever taken it seriously! I tell a lie probably after 1981 we stopped, or when we stopped sending serious acts in- like Never lol
Could someone tell me what is meant by "taking the contest seriously"? (And, as a mater of interest, what year did the contest stop being "taken seriously" in the UK?)
@ Nicholas vertigo
You are right there no-one especially in the UK take the competition seriously anymore lol! I'm a mad fan of the eurovision and neither do i. I love different acts, and Lordi 100% deserved to win that year, so did the likes of Sweden adn the Ukraine etc; Rock on Eurovision 2007!
@melina

How could they perform on Friday night when they have a Dress rehearsals for Saterday Final Broadcast. They have to attend it !
Well, good for them anyways......
...one yaer after the marvellous contest in athens and i am still shockes at the thought that this ludicrous, masquerade pseudo rock group has won the contest and with so many points ahead!! sometimes i think noone takes this contest seriously anymore..otherwise people would have never voted for such a bad enrty..i hope the same thing wont be repetead this time, because then ukrania will win with its ridiculous travestite singer ...lets hope this year good music wins...
Melina:
Do you think esctoday.com get rid of my comments if I'm in Japan? HA! HA! HA!
Peter Eriksson, can YOU go to Japan, please!!
Seems to be the only way we'd get rid of your offensive comments here...
@ chi chi, no, but I do like them (they are national heroes for all Finns now, so people, watch your words)
Please! STAY IN JAPAN LORDI!
@melina
are you amongst them?!? lol
Doesn't matter because if we switch off our mobile phones we will be able to hear them in Japan from Helsinki easily enough.
@ chi chi: because there are so many people who really want to see them in concert (even though you wouldn't)!!
And Eurovision Sweden, that's exactly what they are doing
why dont they cancel their concerts FOREVER?!? lol
