Special - The Beauty Queens interview | Eurovision Song Contest News - 2008 Belgrade, Serbia 

As this is your first interview exclusively for Eurovision fans, would you like to tell us something about your experience in Helsinki? How did it feel to hear the words “and the winner is Serbia”?

Our memories from Helsinki are marvelous and experience we had there by every day rehearsals means a lot to us, so we can easily handle all the comitments Beovizija requires! Beside by the victory we have brought to Serbia, we will remember Finland for  discovering each other and having fun which made the band Beauty Queens!! The feeling after the winner’s announcement was indescribable and we will endeavour to live that moment again!

Tell us a bit more about your group. How is the chemistry among you?

The chemistry that was felt back in Helsinki just increased when we got home and continued to spend time together more intensively and record our own songs. We were thrilled with the idea of a female band since there are not many bands like this in this part of Europe. Even though we are all different, each and every one of us is an irreplaceable part of a mosaic. Together we are functioning just great, as if we have known each other all our lives.

It’s impossible to maintain peace and quiet because when we are together we all often talk the same time J. When decisions are made, we all give our opinions but eventualy Graja has the final word. Pure democracy…

What type of music are you going to focus on?

We are all fans of a similar type of music and that’s mostly pop music and our album will be in this music direction. Graja and Mare are already working on it. We will follow world trends and try to establish some of our own. Modest, isnt it?!

While Vladimir is not looking (lol) can you tell us how it is working with him?

It’s not easy for him to put up with us!!! Hahahaha… Way to go for him for putting up with us five, tolerating and understanding our differences, so it kind of gives him inspiration. We always make up with something. While one is hungry, another one is thirsty, third one is on a diet, fourth one has throat pains, the fifth one feels sleepy and he deals great with all our bugs! Or it just looks that way, hihihi…

 This year’s Beovizija has attracted some of the best Serbian composers and performers, do you feel ready for the competition?

Of course we are ready. Graja and Mare made the great effort for Zavet to be an imposing and wondrously emotional song. We are sure that we will perform the song on stage the best way we can.

Are you ready for Beovizija? At what stage are the preparations for your show?

We are working hard on preparations of the song, especialy on the show that expects us. It will be something totally unexpected and we are sure that we will leave no one indifferent. It will be a combination of something traditional and modern, past and future, wealthiness and simplicity. Regardless of the fact that we are experienced in the studio , when we entered this time to sing this song we felt a tremor that is hard to describe. We were shaking as if it was our first time. Completely awkward. As it is a sign that something unbelievably huge is growing to life.

Do you have a message for the Serbian Eurovision fans?

We love you all sooooooooo much and vote for Beauty Queens at Beovizija : )))))
